You Whirl Me Right Round Baby, Right Round

Ah, the infamous Whirling Ruffles Dress.

I found this dress in a size Large in the clearance section of the Anthropologie at Fashion Valley in San Diego while visiting Carol a few weeks back. Even though it wasn't my size, I decided to try it on, just to see how it would look. I pulled the dress tight around me and I fell in love with it - I just loved the little details with the ruffles (and no busy print to freak me out, haha!) and I imagined it would look great if I just had the right size. I immediately resolved to track it down on eBay.

I was able to score one in a Small, and it arrived today:

Okay, I can definitely understand why people either love or hate this dress. I find myself more in the "love" category than the hate category, though I must confess...I find myself wishing this dress was about 3 inches longer. The dress fits me perfectly up top, but this dress hits me about 3-4 inches above my knee. I always imagined this dress would be...longer, for some reason. I wouldn't really want to size up any more, as anything I'd gain in length would compromise the fit on top. And this dress is already just a hop, skip and a jump from fitting me like a potato sack.

Call it my Anthro "curse," I guess. If Kathryn wants length, Kathryn probably needs to size up.

Don't get me wrong, I definitely still like it. The ruffles are really girlie and give such a cool twist to a sweater dress. I tried playing with pieces from my wardrobe:

Styled with:

  • H&M V-Neck Cardigan in Charcoal Grey (2007)
  • Oh, Hello Friend Grey Belt with Rose Detail (which will have to do, until I finally track down a Snakebite Belt in Grey)
  • Black Nordstrom Tights
  • Forever 21 Pearls

Oh, and DEFINITELY check out Oh, Hello Friend's Etsy store. She has the CUTEST stuff! (I'll have to write a different post about her, later!)

Apologies for my messy house. I'll be sure to clean next time, before I take photos.

Until next time!!
