A Twilit OOTD...x 4

Hi! *waves*

I hope you're all having a great day, so far!

So I'm a total newb to the blogging community, but I have to say, I just love it. Seriously, I can't get enough. I just love seeing all the pretty clothes and the lovely way that everybody styles them. It's so inspiring, and it's definitely helped break me out of my constant "jeans and a top" rut.

I had an event scheduled for yesterday, so I needed to look nice and professional. With the cold and potentially rainy weather, I thought it'd be a good time to wear the Twilit Skirt I'd scored on eBay several weeks back. I finally caved in and decided I had to have it after seeing how awesome it looked on so many people. I'd also used Ebates to navigate to eBay, so...woo! Bonus cash!

Incidentally, if any of you are avid web shoppers and you aren't already registered with Ebates or Mr. Rebates, shoot me a message and I'll send you an invite. We'll each get a $5 bonus if you sign up, and you'll earn cash back on your web purchases! Unfortunately, Anthropologie isn't one of the vendors available, but there are a TON of others...Target, Endless, Bluefly, and Nordstrom, just to name a few! (Nordstrom even has 5% cash back right now!) I love getting my Ebates and Mr. Rebates checks in the mail every few months.

So as I was picking out my outfit for the day, I had a dilemma. There are seemingly endless options for the Twilit Skirt...how did I want to style it...?

I'd admired the skirt on Rosa of Love at First Shop previously, and I even tried to emulate her outfit a few weeks ago with a French Connection skirt from my closet.

Did I want to emulate Rosa again, this time with the real skirt?

My "Rosa" tribute includes:
  • Max Studio Boatneck Sweater, in black (similar here)
  • Jessica Simpson "Barb" in black patent (similar here and here)
  • Express Chunky Pearl Necklace with black ribbon tie (similar here)
  • Pearl earrings (super old, picked up at a Flamenco Festival in 2008...similar here)

Hmm, or did I want to go with a look like Tara B.'s, of Little Girl Big Closet?

Here's a detail shot of my J.Crew necklace (the name of which I've completely forgotten...was it the "Glass Fireball" Necklace..?) I have the necklace doubled up, in the photo above, but in Tara's outfit she wears a different long necklace.

My "Tara B." tribute includes:

Or, maybe I wanted to emulate one of Kim's looks... (of the lovely Anthroholic)

My "Kim" tribute includes:

In the end, I decided to go with one of Maria's looks: (of Infinite Whimsy)

Detail shot of the blouse I picked up, from a local vendor fair for about $20 (about two years ago):

...haha, that shot looks a little weird, now that I look at it. I'm not trying to show off my chest (or lack thereof...), I swear!

My "Maria" tribute includes:

I've been so inspired by all these lovely ladies, and many more that I haven't mentioned here! Thanks to all of you, for your amazing style. You rule!

  3. I love this post! So many great ways to style one skirt- and to think I just passed up a chance to buy one in my size for a $10 super markdown yesterday! Gaaaaah >.<
I love your final look- it's polished, but still very cutesy/pretty.

  7. @Peggy - thank you for your comment! I should really thank all the lovely ladies of the blogosphere for inspiring me!

@Carol - yep, I needed a 6 in the Twilit. And it's snug! Don't let me eat any more risotto and bread, okay?

@Tara - Thanks you so much! I just love your style - I was seriously drooling at your Conch Shell Skirt when I saw your Easter post. Gah! I wish I could find one for me...

@shira - T'ank ya! Don't be surprised to see me rocking one of those other looks sometime next week ;)

@eek - Thank you! And isn't the blogosphere great? Personally, I think alot of these "real" folks dress better than alot of the celebs I see in the entertainment mags!

@Sara - Thanks so much! I love your style too! Hope you don't mind if one of your outfits happens to turn up in one of my OOTDS!

  8. So I read this post this morning and then I was walking through TJMaxx and spotted a necklace exactly like your J Crew fireball necklace for 29.99. With matching earrings for 12.99! The clear stones look like more of a peach color but super cute! Of course I bought them. I also bought 3 of the Nordstrom cardis because of you guys! So, yes, I am getting lots of inspiration from your blog :)

  10. GORGEOUS! My fav is the Kim tribute, but you look fab in all the renditions.

I'm totally in your boat as well - I'm new to the fashion bloggy world but I am in hook, line and sinker! It's been amazingly helpful to break me out of the blue, black, gray and white rut. So many fashionable and creative women out there, including you and Carol. While I have spent more $$ since I've been around the blogs, I've also learned to use my $$ more efficiently and pair things already in my closet to make some fab outfits. Thanks to everyone in the bloggy universe! Keep on keepin' on, ladies!
