A Sickly OOTD - Kinda-Sorta Channeling Emma Pillsbury

It's kind of embarrassing to admit that, despite my music geekdom, I've never actually watched Glee.

That doesn't stop me from noticing Emma Pillsbury's colorful and fun outfits, though. And after spending a majority of the weekend in bed, snarfling my way through multiple boxes of Kleenex, I decided I wanted to make an attempt to at least try and look cute. I always try to tell myself, "Dress pretty, feel pretty." But I've been feeling pretty crappy lately, so I could use all the help I could get to shed the "crappy" and just feel "pretty."

(Side note? Never, ever skimp on Kleenex. Especially when you've got a cold. I shudder to think what my nose would have been like, had I not invested in the ultra-soft Kleenex.)

(Oh, and I do have every intention of actually checking out Glee sometime.)

I know I just wore my Circle the Globe skirt the other day, but I seriously can't get enough of it. And that's how you know a purchase was worth it, right? When you can't wait to wear it again? Plus, I was feeling somewhat adventurous and I wanted to try to look ultra-preppy and colorful. Though I valiantly tried to stick it out the whole workday, I was ultimately still too weak to make it. Pretty clothes will only carry you so far, I guess. So, here was what I wore today...before I went home so I could crawl back into bed to rest (just as soon as I'm done with this post):

I had planned to wear this outfit with this flower pin...but it kept flopping over, so I took it off. But here's how it looked with it on:

J.Crew Jackie Cardigan, in Bright Seaside
H&M Polka-Dot Blouse (cute option here, "if-I-won-the-lottery" option here)
Anthropologie Circle the Globe Skirt, in Blue
Anthropologie Snakebite Belt, in Grey
Steve Madden peep-toe flats (similar here, pricier option here, "I-have-too-much-money" option here)
Pearl bracelets (super duper old)
Long pearl strand, doubled over for layering (similar here)

We're gettin' real close to 200 followers, so we'll be back soon with our upcoming giveaway. Stay tuned!

  1. You do look pretty! Don't feel bad, I have never seen Glee either!

  2. You look beautiful! I never would have known you were sick if you hadn't mentioned it :) I really need to get my hands on that skirt!

  3. You look great for feeling sick! I personally love Glee, but I know several people who don't. I think it's a love it or hate it type thing. The singing aspect is actually my least favorite part!

  4. I hope you get to feeling one hundred percent better soon. Your outfit is adorable! Love that skirt on you. I love Glee. Such a fun show.

  5. Kathryn, sorry you feel so crappy but you look SOOO great! I love that cardigan. And OMG you're gonna love glee. I pine for the show to start up again and have all the songs on my ipod.

  6. I've never seen Glee, but I might have to start watching just for the Anthro! You look so cute in this!

  7. I love your "I have too much money" description for the high end option, tee hee

  9. I hope you're feeling better Kathryn! You looked cute even if you didn't feel well. :-) I really like those colors together. And you have to check out Glee! It's so good!

  10. You can't even tell you are sick. You still look pretty! I'm with you on Glee. I want to watch it, but I always forget. Once in a while I do catch the last 10 minutes. Hope you're feeling better.

  11. Thanks so much for the sweet comments, everyone! =D

@Jan - Whoa! The likeness to Tricia's outfit is uncanny! It actually makes me happy to see someone else thought to pair the two colors together, as I didn't know if I was nuts for trying. And hahaaha, imagine if we ever ran into eachother at the mall dressed almost identically like that?
