In the Family Way (Another Giveaway!)

This time last year, I was sitting in Nordstrom, shopping the Anniversary Sale, 9 months pregnant. Yes, it's true. (This was before I knew Kelly).  I called to make my appointment, and the SA we were working with from Brass Plum was able to secure permission to let me presale a little early, because, well, my due date was the very next day. Never mind that Kate didn't actually arrive for another week and a half or so, but yes, there you have it. Kathryn snapped that photo of me and my friend Lisa, (whose blog here, btw, is packed FULL of stuff for you theater lovers!) as we took a brief break during a marathon shopping session presaling the Anniversary Sale at Nordy's, one day before my due date.  For the 6 months of pregnancy when I was no longer fitting into my normal clothes, I wore various things - most of them purchased from Target, Old Navy, and Gap's maternity sections. All the things I had were okay. Nothing great, but you know, what are you going to do? How great can you possibly look, when you've got a bun in the oven?

Apparently, pretty darn great! How awesome would it be to wear this dress to your baby shower??? We were contacted by a maternity wear company known as Moody Mamas, who does a line in collaboration with Christian Siriano (winner of Project Runway!) called Fierce Mamas, to do a Fierce Mamas giveaway!!! They're offering us a $25 Gift Certificate for one lucky reader, and a coupon code for the rest of us! For 30% off their entire site, use this promo code: MM Discount. By the way, how cute is this top? Almost makes me wish I was pregnant again, just so I could wear it. Almost.

"Um...Carol? We're not pregnant. Or, maybe most of us aren't. And when we say most, we mean, you know, the vast majority of us."

Yes, okay, so you aren't. But you might know someone who is? Or you plan to be eventually? Trust me, there may come a day when you're with child, and you're thinking, "I am so sick and tired of being big, bloated, unwieldy, and frump-tastic!!! Will someone please find me a super cute maternity dress that doesn't cost a billion dollars? " (Note: A Pea In a Pod has cute things, but geez, you're only going to wear them for about 4-6 months - could we have some perspective here on those prices, people???)

Let me tell you, if you have a pregnant friend, and you present her with a super cute pregnancy outfit, you will pretty much jump to the top of her "candidates to be godparent of my yet unborn child" list. ^_- (Oh, and in case you were wondering? Kathryn bought me a pair of Seven for All Mankind jeans, when I was pregnant with Rowan. And, uh, yes...she is his godmother...though, not because of the jeans. Honest.)

So, to enter the giveaway, here's what you do:

1) Be a public follower of our blog, and

2) check out either Moody Mamas site or Nordstrom's Fierce Mamas page, and leave a comment with your name and or Blogger ID and an initial (please leave us a way of knowing you from other entrants with similar names, to avoid confusion) as well as your favorite cute preggers outfit (or what you'd get for your favorite cute preggers friend).

To get extra entries (up to 2 more!) you can

3) blog about this giveaway on your blog, and leave a comment with the link, and/or
4) tweet about the giveaway, with an @raphaela235 or @kathrynshops, and leave a comment telling us you did.

On August 1st, we'll do a random drawing from the entries and we'll send the prize out to the lucky winner! Just a note - please don't leave your email in the comments. We want to help you protect your contact information. When we draw the name and number of the winner, we'll post it on our blog on August 2, 2010, along with directions for that winner to contact us. If for some reason, the winner doesn't get in touch with us within 48 hours, we'll redraw, and announce a new winner, etc.

Good luck to everyone! And if you happen to be expecting, congratulations too! ^_^

***This giveaway's entry period has closed, but the discount code should still work!  Thank you for your interest.***

  1. i'm not pregnant (at least, not at the moment--we will be 'trying' for #2 shortly!) so no need to put me in the giveaway lot, but just wanted to say i got a giggle reading your post...5 days before my scheduled induction w/my first my friend who did PR for tory burch invited me to an invite only holiday sale at tory's store in nyc...i was huge, swollen and not moving all too well but somehow managed to waddle my big ole belly over there for 80-90% off prices! fortunately the staff was more then helpful and let me sit in the sofa in the middle of the small store and brought stuff i pointed to! they were super friendly tho' probably frightened my water would break and mess up their displays! ah, the memories! :)

  2. You're the cutest pregnant mommy ever! Here's hoping I look just as good as you when I'm about to pop, and also have the energy to go out shopping on swollen feet. :)

  3. Hi, I am a long time reader of your blog (Found you through Kim's blog!), and now I've become a follower! Thanks for the giveaway! I love the crewneck top...It seems so comfy!

  7. This is not an entry comment - just wanted to respond quickly. =)

@Stef - that's so funny! I love the story. =D Good luck with getting pregnant with #2, when you start trying.

@Em - ooh, yay! Good luck on getting pregnant! Fingers crossed for you!

@Cindi - I'm sure you will be an adorable preggers mom! I can't wait to see it. =D

@HS - you're too sweet. I didn't do anything really different - just ate as normal and breastfed the baby. I have to say, the weight stuck around for about 6-8 months (which why I have some larger sized Anthro and Nordstrom pieces hanging in my closet - I wasn't sure that it was going to come off easily)...and then around 8 months, it started dropping off quickly. Breastfeeding burns a LOT of calories, so as long as you don't overeat, your pregnancy weight should come off with it. It's just not going to happen all at once. Oh, and I walk the mall. ;)

  8. I've been a public follower of your blog for a while :)

I love this giveaway, especially since we just recently found out that we're expecting! I love the Seersucker Dress and the V-Neck Maxi Dress. It's great to see that maternity clothes can be fashionable!
