Just Can't Get Enough (Catching up on OOTDs)

Hello All!

I hope you're all doing well! I'm still feeling a bit of the after-effects from Baby Kate's big shindig, myself. I actually overslept today - I'm still that tired!

I kind of have a backlog of OOTDs from when I was busy with all the party prep for Baby Kate's first birthday. I hope you don't mind if I share them with you all at once - especially since I received a few of my Anniversary Sale purchases and a recent Anthro purchase (and wore them already)!

Last Wednesday's OOTD:
This outfit was inspired by the ever-lovely Kim of Anthroholic, where she styled the Alena Skirt. This is my interpretation of "Look #2: Casual Parisian Chic" - styled with my new striped tee that I bought from this year's Anniversary Sale at Nordstrom. This was a super-fun outfit to wear, and I felt very girlie in it. Definitely love my Alena Skirt!

Rubbish Roll-Sleeve Stripe Tee (Nordstrom Anniversary Sale price $21.90, link here)
Anthropologie Alena Skirt (Spring 2010)
H&M Bow Belt
Tory Burch "Miller" Thong (link here)
Oh, Hello Friend "Take Time to Breathe" Pocketwatch Necklace

Monday's OOTD:

As you can see, I can't get enough of my recent purchases. First I repeated the Alena Skirt, then I repeated the Field Game Cardigan. I was seriously looking for an excuse to wear this cardigan again, as I love it so much. Ashley's styling of the Field Game Cardi had me wanting to try it with shorts, and the recent heat wave in SoCal drove me to grab these cuffed shorts from Target (as Carol and I lovingly refer to them, the "Chloe Shorts") while I was picking up some last-minute knick-knacks for Kate's party.

Please forgive me for my "Casper the Friendly Ghost"-white legs...

Urban Outfitters Tank (super old, 2005? similar here)

Nordstrom BP Necklace

I'd been looking for a cute baby pink-colored purse forever, and I really wanted to pull the trigger on Emily's "Cupcakes and Cashmere for Coach" bag that she's carrying here; but alas, it wasn't meant to be. I've gotten kind of "funny" about designer purses lately. It's hard for me to want to spend a lot of money on a high end designer purse when I've been spending a lot of time in smelly rehearsal studios (that reek of ammonia and urine), or playing gigs with my band in dark, seedy bars. I just feel like the initials "MJ," "G" or "LV" would scream, "Rob me!" I also wouldn't want to risk any possible nacho cheese or beer stains from any careless fans from the many hockey games I'm lucky enough to go to each season.

So when I spotted a gal carrying this pretty pink purse while I was waiting in line at (...wait for it...) El Pollo Loco, I had to ask her where she got it. It's not real leather, but it feels very well-made. The fact that's it isn't real leather is actually bit of a "plus" for me, given my current lifestyle. And being that pink is pretty much my favorite color, is it any wonder that I tracked it down? ^_-

So, here I am with my new pink purse (fresh from the UK):

(I really like the hardware on it - the gold plating reminds me of Marc by Marc Jacobs, and the little padlock on it reminds me a bit of a Chloe!)

Here's a stock pic of the purse, which is a better shot that shows the pretty pale pink color. Each purse actually comes with its own rosette, but I didn't like the one mine came with. Plus, I kind of like it without it:

Paul's Boutique "Gracie" Hobo (available in other colors here)

Tuesday's OOTD:

Boy, was I happy to see the Bits-of-Pearl blouse go on sale! I'd pretty much fallen in love with it after seeing it on Roxy a few weeks back. Carol can tell you how much I'd obsessed over it! I'd caved in and ordered it a few days after seeing Roxy's post, and lucky for me it was still within the price adjustment window. Yeeeeehaw!

Anthropologie Bits of Pearl Blouse (on sale now for $29.95!)
Anthropologie Scalloped Dots Skirt
H&M Bow Belt
Seychelles Bette Flat (available here)
Nordstrom BP Bow Necklace (in stores now for $10)
Target Head Band (in stores, $9.99)
Rhinestone Hoop Earrings (similar here)

One last bonus photo, as I wish a VERY HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to my co-blogger and dearest friend, Carol. I can hardly believe it was 8 years today that she and her DH said, "I do!" ^_^

Here's a shot from their rehearsal dinner (adorned with Minnie Mouse Veil and Mickey Mouse Tophat)

Little story: the "Bride" shirt Carol is wearing is actually a baby t-shirt from Express that I affixed rhinestones to, to make it look like a "bebe" shirt. I had been looking all over the place for a cute "Bride" shirt for her to wear at her bachelorette party, but there were NONE at the time. Just a bunch of oversized, cartoon-ish and x-rated shirts that weren't cute! I kept thinking about the rhinestone "bebe" tees and thought how adorable it would look if I made one that said "bride." (lower-case "b," to match "bebe," of course ^_-) So, I went out and found this tee with little lace sleeves and spent an evening gluing rhinestones to it with fabric glue.

When we were out on the town (yes, we went to Las Vegas for her bachelorette party), we were approached by tons of girls from other bachelorette parties, begging us to tell them where we'd bought her shirt. It was really fun to be able to tell them that I made it for her!

Not long after, we started noticing little rhinestone "bride" shirts popping up for sale online at places like The Knot. Of course, I'm sure that it's pure coincidence...but it always made me go, "hmmm."

Oh, what the heck. How about a bonus bonus photo, while I'm at it?

  1. Wooo loving the PB bag, I have seen them on ASOS but they tend to be Barbie or leopard print. I've not spotted a beautiful, muted one like yours before! Love the wedding pics, congrats to Carol and her hubby.

  3. Love, love the wedding photos. Kathyrn, I also wanted to let you know that I finally caved and bought the two-wheeler dress. I resisted and resisted and worked hard for many weeks to talk myself out of it. Then, I had to have it (sound familiar). I had to call around and received it on Monday (love it! love it!). however, there is a button missing at the waist. I was really afraid to send it back so I took it to a tailor yesterday (the extra button was attached in those cute little bags) and she will reapply and reinforce the other ones. I know I'm pathetic for not being able to sew it on but I wanted it done right. it will be $16 extra. do you think i should talk with anthro about whether they will reimburse all or part? regardless, I am beyond thrilled to own this dress!!! 7. Hooray Bits of Pearl Blouse! I just missed the PA window but it's OK. I love how you paired it with the Scalloped Dots Skirt, an item I just happen to own...hmmm...

It's great how you put your own spin on ideas from the community. You look fantastic in every outfit. :)

  9. I love all of these outfits but my favorite is the one with the dots skirt. I would never have thought to pair it with the Bits of Pearl Blouse but they look amazing together!
Love Carol's bride pictures! I bet she had a beautiful wedding! :-)

  10. Kathryn- Your OOTDs are all so lovely! Great score with the new bag, it's a pretty pink shade. I love how you made the bride shirt. Maybe you did start something. I was married 7 years ago and I remember seeing them then.

Carol- You were a beautiful bride! Happy Anniversary!

I don't think either of you has aged one bit!

  11. Kathryn- I'm sooo glad you don't wear the bag with that rosette... its way too much and its sooo cute without it.

Carol- Due to my lack of sleep I had to do a 5 take on your shirt cuz I couldn't figure out why bebe was spelled so weirdly, and then I read Kathryn's story. HA! You guys look so cute! And I like how nothing's changed on you but the hair cut. HAPPY BELATED ANNIVERSARY!

  13. I love that "Bride" Shirt Kathryn made me! I still have it! It was incredibly cute that I've always been a little sad that I only wore it twice. =D And it's so weird to see photos of myself with long hair. You guys *almost* make me think I should grow it out again. But then I think of my hairdryer (we don't get along) and I remember why I like short hair so much. ;)

  14. @Louise - Thanks! I'd never really considered Paul's Boutique before, but when I saw that girl's purse at El Pollo Loco, I was in love! Maybe I should cruise El Pollo Loco for style tips more often! ;o)

    @Anon (@4:37) - Haha, you caught me! I'm a BIG Depeche Mode fan...seen them 10 times (I think?)

@Anon (@6:37) - LOL, sounds VERY familiar indeed! So glad you love the Two-Wheeler! And I'd try calling the store you got it from to see if they'll issue you a credit. It can't hurt to try, right?

@Cindi - Aww, thanks! What a sweet comment! I consider myself very lucky to have a great friend like Carol in my life. =)

@Roxy - thank you for bringing my attention to the Bits-of-Pearl blouse! I'd honestly overlooked it (don't ask me how) until I saw how lovely it was on you. I love it and I can't wait to wear it again!

@Jan & Debbie & Gemma & Ashley - Thank you! It was fun to dig out those old photos from Carol's wedding, especially having just celebrated Baby Kate's birthday just a couple days ago! Hmm...I should've included some photos from the bachelorette party too, for kicks. Especially the one of Carol in the police car... ;o)

@shira - Thanks for the encouragement! When I was looking at my OOTD photos, I was starting to worry that my purse looked too plain! =)

@Carol - Wow, you still have the shirt?? That's so cool! It survived the move to and from New York??
