She's Got (Field) Game! (OOTD)

I was afraid to blog this outfit because I didn't want Carol to kill me when she saw it.

...okay, maybe not kill. "Kill" is such a strong word. But...she was definitely going to notice something when she saw my OOTD.

You see, we'd both been trying to resist the Field Game Cardigan. We had told ourselves that we needed to be good, as the Anniversary Sale was coming up, and...you know...it's...a cardigan with horizontal stripes. And it's not like horizontal stripes are necessarily flattering.

But, try as I might, I couldn't stop thinking about it. Especially in the gray/oatmeal color.

"It's pretty," my brain said.

Who am I kidding? I never stood a chance.

So today's outfit was inspired a little by Tien of Adiaphane and a little by Ashley of Anthropologie Girl. It was still overcast this morning when I got dressed, so I opted to wear pants and a pretty top with the cardigan:

Field Game Cardigan (call CS for stores!)
Free Flow Tank (Spring 2010)
Hudson Triangle Pocket Jeans (similar here)
Charles David "Brat" Heels in Pink (cute option here)
Louis Vuitton Cherry Blossom Papillon (Spring 2003 Murakami Collection)

At Carol's urging, I pulled out one of my favorite purses of all time - my LV Cherry Blossom Papillon. I was very lucky to get my hands on one wayyyy back in the day, thanks to a very kind associate at Saks. If it's possible to feel true, actual love for a purse...well, then...this one has my heart. Eternally. Purse, I love thee.

Carol here. I gasped out loud when I saw this outfit. This is a most unfortunate turn of events. Certainly not because my hand dialed CS of its own volition...nor because someone, who shall remain nameless, placed a charge-send for this particular sweater...*clears throat*. Yes, um, well...gosh this is a cute outfit, and seriously, on Saturday, I was wearing my new Nordstrom-substitute-for-In-a-Twinkling-Dress, and I was thinking, "This would look so great with that Field Game Sweater!" Seeing Kathryn in this outfit is the last straw - the one that broke the proverbial camel's back - because I own all those other pieces (minus the incredible, Murakami collaboration Louis Vuitton Cherry Blossom Papillon...sigh...) and could easily make this outfit, along with 10 or 20 more if only I had that sweater. Okay, I know, I'm incorrigible. But I'm making a plan. Anyone here familiar with the transtheoretical model of behavior change? Yes, well, I'm back in the "Planning" or "Ready for Action" stage in addressing my erm, shopping problem, and in a few days, will hopefully be back on the wagon and um, yes...more on that later. I apologize for not having an OOTD - I was under the weather today, so stayed home sick, meaning I was in my pjs all day long. Tomorrow, I promise to have one for you.

Kathryn again. I'll leave off with one last photo, from when I went to a meet-and-greet with Anaheim Duck (and U.S. Silver Medalist in Men's Hockey!) Bobby Ryan. I had taken a friend of mine to meet him, and she was so excited. She got hooked on hockey during this year's Winter Olympics, and this is the first professional athlete she's ever met. I ended up getting an awesome photo of them together, and she was on cloud nine for the rest of the day.

Unfortunately, people tend to get really freaked out by my DSLR...so when I handed my camera to my friend...it...didn't go well. She ended up snapping the photo while I was mid-sentence, trying to explain how to use my camera. Haha! But..well, he still looks cute, and I was wearing my Two-Wheeler Dress, so...

...yeah. Trust me, I was a happy girl that day.

Here's an awesome skit he filmed especially for the NHL Awards. You don't need to like hockey to like this video, you just need a little patriotism. Hope you enjoy it! ;o)

  3. I played the same game with myself .."it's just a cardi, it has stripes, so what, blah blah" but I pretty much freaked out and got very greedy when it went on sale. I have the free flow tank too and think they look so great together!

  4. I'm wearing my Field Game cardi (red) for the first time right now! I also really regret passing on the Free Flow Tank. The straps were a bit loose, but should have had them altered.. its the *perfect* pairing for this sweater - esp the grey one you are wearing. Looks great!

  7. You both are so funny. Carol, I know the transtheoretical model. I'm an academic psychologist and do clinical research. Go luck getting back to the action stage on the shopping~its all a bit difficulty with all of the cute things out there.

  9. Love the pairing of the Grey Field Game cardi and the Free Flow tank. I have both so I will have to try that pairing. Thanks for the idea!

The Getzlaf/Ryan video was so funny, the best part was when Niedermeyer came out at the end!

  10. @whataboutsummer - Thank you!

@Pamela - Thanks! Pairing the two items was one of those last-minute decisions that worked out well. =)

@Spiffy - Glad do know there's someone else out there the felt the same way, haha!

@E Hayes - Thank you! I can't wait to see the FG Cardi on you!

@Cindi - I'd been eying the FG Cardi for so long, it's that much more precious that I was able to score it on sale. It's love!

@Ivoire - That skit totally makes me smile everytime I see it. Especially since I think that's a little how Getzlaf is in real life. My husband and his friends always laugh because I love hockey and Canada as much as most Canadians. The True North, strong and free! =D

@Anonymous - I'm honored and also somewhat awed that an academic psychologist is reading our little blog...what do our shopping patterns say about us? (or, do I want to know..?) Hahaha...

@Debbie - Thank you! I'm so sorry I couldn't come to San Diego today to hang out with you and Carol. Hope you guys had fun!

@KristinH - Thank you so much! And I'm so glad you loved the Niedermayer part as much as I did! "What're you gonna do aboot it?" Haha! Aww...I'm going to miss him so much!

  11. OM GEE!!!! I wore my grey/oatmeal field game cardigan today too! I'm so glad I didn't have a meeting on campus today. LOL - can you imagine if we ran into each other, Kathryn?

I love that both you and Carol show the grey field game some love! YAY!

and I am DYING over the Murakami! So cool - you know how much I love me some LV. WTG!

  12. Kathryn, you look so adorable in the Field Game Cardi! And you totally make me wish that I would have purchased the free flow tank. They are perfect together. You also look adorable in the two-wheeler (even if your face isn't showing). I hope that you are having a great day!

  13. @Michelle - Hahaha, that would've been awesome if we'd run into eachother! I think you and Carol and I should all go to lunch wearing it so we can be Field Game Cardigan triplets!

And thank you! Haha, Carol said you were gonna scream when you saw the Murakami. I still love my Papillon after all these years - it's probably my favorite purse I own.

@Ashley - Thank you! Your stylings with the FG Cardi were so great - I can't wait to try it with shorts and a pencil skirt too!

Trust me, my face was soooo awkward in the photo with Bobby...which is too bad, because he's just so cute. Ah well, I'll have to pick out another Anthro outfit next time I go to a meet and greet. ;o)
