Height of [(500) Days of] Summer Dress

Day 87 - Record Store Scene

...yeah, I know. I'm still talking about that movie.

Let's be honest, I'd want to steal Summer's entire closet, if I could. However, if there are just two dresses I could steal from the movie and install straight into my closet, they'd have to be :

1) the gorgeous vintage party dress she wears on Day 402 for Millie's wedding

2) the lovely dark blue eyelet dress she wears on Day 87 in the record (and porn?) shop during their "best Beatles song ever recorded" debate.

Tom: "Nobody loves Ringo Starr!"
Summer: "That's what I love about him!"

(...and, "Octopus's Garden?" Tom's right - she really might as well have said "Piggies.")

Since it's pretty much impossible to find that Marc Jacobs dress she wore on Day 87 , I couldn't resist snatching up the Height of Summer Dress in Blue when it went on sale last Tuesday:

(Note: I purposely overexposed this picture a little bit, to show more of the color and detail of the dress)

(oops, blurry focus...sorry!)

Height of Summer Dress (similar look to Summer's, from Ruche here)
Worn with my favorite new Soludos "Playa" in Seersucker
Hairpin: Oh, Hello Friend
(her shop is closed for the next few months as she plans her wedding, but she'll be back!)

I like this dress a lot. I love the idea of wearing it like Summer - with minimal accessories and a simple pair of flats. It makes for a cozy, comfy casual look. But I also love that this dress can easily be dressed up with fun accessories and heels. (and don't forget the removable straps - as Carol would say, "It's a Transformer...it's more than meets the eye!")

I plan on getting a lot of use out of this dress - though perhaps not to visit any por-erm...."adult entertainment" shops. And for the record, I think it's too hard to pick any one Beatles song as the greatest. Though one of my favorites has to be "In My Life."

Hope you're all having a wonderful day!

@Sara - Thank you!!! I confess, there's a small part of me that wants to cut bangs again...not exactly like Zooey but just so I can have some fringe up front!

And I love that chalkboard wall too - a friend of mine was actually telling me that there's chalkboard wallpaper available. I was thinking about getting some and putting it in an old vintage picture frame. Yay for craft projects!

  10. You look marvelous in the Height of Summer dress. And what a perfect name for the dress, given the theme of your post. And such beautiful hair -- I am impressed. I just grabbed the HOS dress in green and I'm really looking forward to styling it!

  11. I really need to see the film now, your posts have made it compulsory viewing!
I don't own any Beatles albums (pretty shocking for a British girl right?!) but Come Together would be my personal favourite, followed by Get Back and Here Comes the Sun : )
