Random (I want, I want, I want)

Okay, so Kathryn and I both have a couple posts in the cooker, but I wanted to do a real quickie - just to air my general state of disbelief that 1) there are SO many new things I seem to need, when my closet is quite literally bursting at the seams, and 2) I can't seem to maintain a solid grip on this shopping ban I've set for myself.

*Clears throat.*  Case in point:

I saw this, and I immediately groaned.  Because quite frankly, this is the silly, wonky, mash-up-sort-of-crazy jacket I love!  PLEASE.  Would you listen to the name: Frill Force Jacket.  Frill Force.  I kid you not.  And yet...I love it.  LOVE.  It comes in petite sizing too.  Cotton military with ruffles and a hood.  Why, Anthro, why?

Also, this:

The Bianka Blouse.  I need a dry-clean only blouse like I need a hole in my head.  Sigh.  But what great colors!  And that ruffled collar!  And the ruffle on the sleeves! I'd wear it with jeans and skirts and trousers and even shorts when the weather is warm.  Oh gosh, I think I just talked myself into this one.

And last but absolutely not least:

This is the Zanzibar Dress from Modcloth.  As worn by Emma Watson (who by the way, is more than 10 years younger than me...) recently:

Yes.  It is a summer dress.  Yes, we are going into fall.  Yes, I'm still thinking about it.  (I stole this from Kathryn.  She showed it to me yesterday, so you may see it show up in a post of hers.)

So, 'fess up!  What's out there, making your wallet weep?

  1. Ooh I can SOOO see you wearing that blouse. It's a Carol piece but you're right, it's dry clean. What is you goin' do?? Haha.

  2. Oh my gosh, the ruffles on that coat are seriously singing to me! Look at the back - ahhh!! I hadn't even notice it until now - thanks for sharing!! I am also a huge fan of the blouse. Didn't realize it was dry clean, but I think I'd still go for it since it's a pretty good (for Anthro) price! Very cute pieces, Carol! :)

  3. I love the Bianka Blouse too - I tried it on yesterday and it is devine! The cut, the colours and the versatility have it at the top of my wishy list! Without a doubt, I think it would be lovely on you.

I take 'dry clean' recommendations with a grain of salt. If it says 'dry clean only' then I will take it in. In real life there was nothing I could see to make that blouse not cope with an at-home hand wash!

  4. Well, here's what I think about that cute summer dress: I live in San Diego, too, and I think the fact that we had virtually no summer through July means that it is TIME for a summer dress now that's it's finally warm(er)! I'm pretty sure we'll have our summer through October anyway... Yep. I would totally get the cute dress.

  5. That ruffle coat is to die for. Who couldn't use a new coat?! Really, it's the first piece people notice when you are out and about in cooler weather and sometimes they don't even see what you have on underneath. I think it doesn't fall into "want" but "need"

I can also provide reasons for anything else you might "want"...

  6. Oh no, you had to point out a lovely new arrival?! That coat is just perfect-ruffles, color, hood! Let's see, what do I have that I can return so that I can purchase this? Must justify....

  7. Your post was hilarious. Anthro takes the cake for thinking outside the box with their item names.

And the Zanzibar Dress is darling. Emma Watson looks cute on it, but I think you would wear it even better! And maybe it'd look cute with tights and t-straps for the fall?

  8. I'm not a major fan of military but that Frill Force Jacket is really cute. I cant wait to see it on you.

Its hard to believe that Emma Watson is more than 10 years younger than you! you look heaps younger than you actually are.

  9. I'm going to be on the hunt for that Frill Force Coat on my Anthro trip in a week and 1/2! I LOVE it!!!

  10. I'm LOVING the pun! Also, I wanted to say thank you for giving the heads up about the bow necklace from Nordstrom because I definitely bought it the next time I was there (I'm obsessed, and have one from Tiffanys and Anthro already). Thanks! (:

  11. Thanks for posting the picture of the frilly military coat - it's fantastic, and despite my dedication to browsing Anthropologie's new offerings I somehow missed it! I hope you get it! Onto the wish list it goes...

  12. @Pamela - you're so awesome, and so awful! Hahaha, let me bring you my wishlist... ;)

@Cindi - if I can find it in my store and it's a good fit, I might get it...maybe...or somethin'...jus'sayin'...

@Erin, Lorraine, Aimee, & Anna - I saw it online today and couldn't believe how I could have overlooked it either. It's SOOOO cute! And the DH really likes it too. ;) Always a step in the right direction...

@Kate - that blouse IS reasonable...for an Anthro piece, right? Hahaha...our perspective is so warped.

@Cindy - oh, I'm glad you liked it! I love that necklace - I seriously have been wearing it almost non-stop. It kind of goes with everything I own.

@Jill - oh, you're really tempting me now. My coworker and I were just talking about how it's been so mild this summer but it'll probably be blistering in October.

@Vintageglammz - you're so sweet - and while I'm not old, per se, I'm solidly in my mid-30's now. Which is young-ish, but not really young. If that makes sense. Sigh. Oh, whatever - aren't "they" saying that the 30s are the new 20s? (Obviously, this notion was made up by a 30-something...) =)

  13. Wow, that coat is adorable! Thanks for pointing it out as I hadn't noticed it yet on the website.
I saw that picture of Emma Watson too and thought her dress was cute but had no idea it was from Modcloth. I think it would look great with either red or yellow shoes!

  14. I just bought the Zanzibar dress from Modcloth! I've been waiting for it to come back in stock and it finally did. I'm glad you think it's as adorable as I do. It's supposed to arrive on monday and I can't wait (-:
