Shake the Disease (Catching Up with OOTDs)

Hello Everyone!

I hope you're all doing well!

I never seemed to get home early enough last week to photograph my OOTDs, so while the Husband was out with friends watching the big UFC Fight (DH is a huge fan of Mixed Martial Arts) I thought I'd re-shoot a couple of the things I wore last week...so here goes!

Last Monday's OOTD:
This outfit was partially inspired by one of Chloe's outfits from about two months ago. Except that it's about 1000 times less fabulous. (I don't have the statement necklace, the Chloe Paraty, the awesome heels, the fabulous legs, the great hair, etc etc etc.) I found this little lace skirt in Forever 21 not long ago, and I thought it'd look nice with this Caslon cardi I scooped up at this year's Anniversary Sale at Nordstrom. I liked how the lace accent on the cardi tied in with the skirt, and I thought the lace skirt lightened up the overall look versus a solid pencil skirt. I wore this outfit for interviewing potential new employees.

Last Wednesday's OOTD:
So here's an outfit that was a happy accident. I was running really late for work one day and fishing through my closet for something to wear when I found this skirt that I'd forgotten I had. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that I think I've had this skirt for over ten years. I had picked up the red Torsade Tee several weeks ago when it went on sale, but had been waffling over whether or not to keep it. This was the morning I'd finally made up my mind to hang onto it.

So here's me, at work! (notice the chalkboard that I won from Anthropologie Girl's giveaway!)

Torsade Tee in Red
Skirt by Elevenses (about eleventy-thousand years old!)
Looping Lanes Belt
Nordstrom BP Bow Necklace

(side note: plowing through my closet, I realize I have a serious addiction to skirts with scalloped hems...)

Last Thursday's OOTD:
On that same trip to Forever 21 when I picked up the lace skirt, I managed to find the "Pretty Bow Athletic Top" that bore an uncanny resemblance to the Presently Perfect Top from Anthro that went on sale last week. It so happened that Anthro was all sold out of my size, so finding this lookalike in my F21 was a pleasant surprise. I had a lot of schlepping-of-stuff to do at work on Thursday, and this outfit was extremely comfy, yet still girlie because of the gigantic bow.

...aaaand finally, Saturday's OOTD:
Like Cat of Anthrosdottir, I often spend most of my weekends clad in my beloved lululemon. Saturdays are my days to work out, do laundry and run errands.

I first discovered lululemon several years ago while on a trip to the Husband's hometown of Vancouver, British Columbia. We had gone to Whistler to go ziplining, and I couldn't help but notice this wonderful store with all these colorful yoga clothes and mats. I remember reading their manifesto and reading about the company's origins and falling in love with their philosophy. When I came home, I was so happy to find out there was a store near me in Newport Beach. My first purchase was a pair of Reverse Groove Pants, and it was pretty much over for me. I never looked back. And I absolutely love supporting a Canadian company.

I love my lulu stuff. Every piece I own is still in near-perfect condition. The only things that have ever gotten worn out were the pads from my sport tanks, and the folks at lululemon were kind enough to replace them for me absolutely free.

(Have I mentioned how much I love having pads for my sport tanks? No more worrying about...um..."headlights" showing when I'm working out!)

Shape Jacket in "Pig Pink" (similar style and color available here)
Power "Y" Tank in "Pig Pink"
Wunder Under Crops
(the crops look long on me because they were a gift from DH and he bought them in "tall")
ASICS Gel-Kinetic in "Root Beer/Latte"

While my lovely hubby was watching Anderson Silva almost-losing to...uh..."that other guy," I wound up my Saturday night with a good book, some freshly-baked banana bread and some hot coffee.

Ahhhhh.

On a final note - I took the Husband to Anthro with me Friday night after work to lust over the mystery Idra jacket, and look at the outfit I spotted on one of the mannequins:

The Idra jacket, this top and this skirt will be mine, make no mistake...

Well, that about wraps it up! Have a wonderful day everyone!

  4. I'm glad you kept the Torsade Tee because I love Wednesday's outfit on you! And how lucky are you to have won that chalkboard? It's so freaking cute!

  5. The red of the Torsade Tee is fabulous on you, I'm glad you kept it too - it gives new life to your skirt! And your F21 bow top is adorable, I was lucky to find the Presently Perfect in my size, and I can't wait until it's cool enough to wear it. I love Banana Bread - mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

  6. Kathryn,
I respectfully disagree on your stance that you don't have "fabulous legs" and "great hair"!! You look really terrific and your style is impeccable. I love your OOTD posts!

  9. You look great in your outfits. How sweet is your DH to take you to Anthro!! Mine would rather have a cavity filled than go clothes shopping, with me or even for himself.

  11. Great post!

We are lucky readers to have you put your OOTDs on all over again to take the pics!

(I especially like the red outfit. Enhanced by the oh-so-subtle hint of corporal punishment in the workplace... putting it on an Anthro blackboard makes it seem so much friendlier!)

  12. @vintageglammz - Haha, nonsense! I've seen your blog - I don't think you could look "daggy" if you tried!

On a side note, I'm totally adopting "daggy" into daily vocabulary!

    @PetiteLittleGirl - Thanks so much!

@E Hayes - Thanks! It's fun finding old things - it's like they become new again!

@Sara - Thank you! I'm glad I decided to keep the Torsade after all, too. And can you believe it, the first day I wore it I ended up marking myself with a pen? Of all the things, huh?

And I love my chalkboard too! (thanks Ashley!)

@Jan - Thank you! Ohh, I can't wait to see the Presently Perfect top on you! And I love banana bread too - I've had to take to baking my own, since I developed an allergy to walnuts a few years ago and so many people make theirs with walnuts!

@Anonymous at 5:16 - Aww, thanks so much! You're too kind!

@Rosa - Thanks for your sweet comment! I've been wanting a bow top ever since I saw the H&M one you bought all those months ago, so yay! Thanks for the inspiration. =)

@shira - lol, I'm not sure if the folks saw me that night when I was trying clothes on but I did think it was funny that I saw the same outfit on one of their mannequins a few days later. =)

@JulieStyles - Haha, my husband is a sweet guy. And since he's had his share of cavities, I'm sure he'd actually rather go to Anthro than fill a cavity. ;o) But, even as sweet as he is, I wouldn't dare to take him to Anthro any more than once every six weeks or so.

    @Natasha - Thanks? I don't remember wearing a green cardi, but...thanks!

@Kate - Aww, thank you! I feel like I'm the lucky one to have readers that would want to see my little OOTDs. Thanks for reading! =)

I try to keep things light around the office. A little laughter goes a long way ^_^
