We (Hate/Love) Tuesdays (Sale Picks, Lists, and Laments)

A couple weeks ago, feeling like I wasn't keeping good track of what I'd purchased/spent and what I wanted to purchase/spend, I wrote up two lists to post over my desk, so I could remind myself not to impulse buy. One list is "Things I've Bought/Am Willing to Buy at Full Price" and the other is "Things I Want at Sale Price." I told Kathryn about these lists, and -

Kathryn here! I thought this was a great idea, so I decided to compose my own lists as well! I stand in solidarity with Carol!

...yes, it looks like she drafted her own too, hahaha! You can see our complete lists at the end of this post.

I can't begin to describe my feelings early this morning, when I glanced at Roxy's sale lists and saw that TWO of the dresses I've been pining for have gone on sale. On the one hand, it's so exciting, because they're on sale! On the other hand, they're Tracy Reese dresses, which mean that even on sale, they're still the price of most full price Anthropologie dresses. And I've already spent my August allowance for clothes and then some.

*Quiet weeping and sniffles ensue.*

*Kathryn weeps and sniffles too.*

The Compeer dress never made it to the San Diego stores, sadly, so I haven't had the opportunity to try it on. However, you know me. Shirtdress? Check. Bright fun color? Check. Pretty details? Check.

Kathryn here. I've been wanting the Compeer for a long time myself, but like Carol said - even on sale it's still pricey. I feel like I could get a lot of use out of it though, so in terms of cost-per-wear, maybe it all works out in the end? Maybe?

Or, maybe I can cross my fingers and hope it makes it to a second cut. *crossing fingers*

I actually had the opportunity to try and and review the Choreographed Dress (see review here). I love love love this dress. It was so great, in so many respects. And I think I could transition it into the fall, no problem. How easy to layer a long sleeve tissue tee under the dress and throw on some cute tights and coat. It's so nice. Nicely constructed, nicely detailed, nicely finished...sigh. Oh, were the price only slightly nicer!

So, my full price lists include the following:
1. Molded and Melded Tee, white
2. Frill Force Jacket (purchased)
3. Dog Trot Cardi (purchased)
4. Mystery Tweed Pheasant Skirt
5. Finishing School Skirt (purchased)
6. Falling Folds Pants
7. Bianka Blouse

My sale price list (so far):
1. Choreographed Dress (on sale - ack! What to do?)
2. Compeer Dress (on sale - *sob*)
3. Sugar and Cream Dress
4. Mullany Dress
5. Remaining Lilies Sweater
6. Scribbled Bouquet Cardigan
7. Jet Stream Cardi (on sale! But maybe I can let this one pass...)
8. Lima Lines Skirt

Kathryn again! There's sooo much cute Fall/Winter stuff at Anthro right now, I seriously feel like I could put the entire store in my shopping cart right now.

...okay, maybe not the Poni Cardigan.

Annnnyway, here are my current wishlists...

Kathryn's full price list:

1. Mystery Idra Jacket (which I tried on here)
2. Acting Out Skirt (purchased)
3. Babergh Dress (would rather purchase on sale, but...)
4. Bianka Blouse (thinking about this one...)

Kathryn's Sale Price List:

1. Once & Always Tee
2. Lima Lines Skirt
3. Mullany Dress
4. Remaining Lilies Cardigan
5. Compeer Dress (*weeping with Carol over this*)
6. Tiny Windows Dress (also on sale - wahhh!)
7. Secret Treasure Dress
8. Graces Tank
9. Pinpointed Skimmers (on sale, but I can't decide if they'll hurt my feet)

So tell us, dear readers...what's on your list?

  1. Hi,

Kathryn, I remember seeing your post about the Idra jacket and you saying that it reminded you of a UO jacket that you had missed out on. Was it this one: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.omiru.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/kimchi-blue-ruffle-peacoat_102608.jpeg&imgrefurl=http://www.omiru.com/index.php/2008/11/07/kimchi-blue-ruffle-peacoat/&usg=__ZGoCu5OY_0zHJuJWJCKzr2B_Yok=&h=339&w=455&sz=40&hl=en&start=0&tbnid=guq74H85K-Ns0M:&tbnh=148&tbnw=219&prev=/images%3Fq%3Durban%2Boutfitters%2Bkimchi%2Bblue%2Bruffle%2Bjacket%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26rlz%3D1G1ACGW_ENUS374%26biw%3D1259%26bih%3D606%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=640&oei=Kw9rTK2XDcGengf-9exm&page=1&ndsp=22&ved=1t:429,r:3,s:0&tx=163&ty=111?

Anyways, I have the Mullany dress on my sale list, and the Babergh dress on my full price list. I still can't decide which size to purchase the Babergh in, though. Oh, and I want the Unaligned Bands dress on sale, too. It was flattering on me, but it's just not worth full price to me.

Also, I think you girls should go ahead and splurge on the Compeer. Yes, it's still pricey, but I can definitely tell that Tracy Reese dresses tend to have better quality than regular anthro dresses, and they're usually classically designed so they don't seem so in-the-moment like a lot of other pieces at anthro. I've never regretted purchasing any of the Tracy Reese pieces from anthro that I own.

  2. Oh, sorry, I don't think the link went through. I hope this one works: http://www.omiru.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/kimchi-blue-ruffle-peacoat_102608.jpeg

  3. Oh my...so many things are also on my list right now. Lets see, my full price list right now probably would be the discovery lace dress and actually Tomasina blazer.

Hmm...sales list would be the mullany dress, the pheasant skirt, the mustard yellow sweater skirt, and the folded and molded tees. I'm sure there's more but that's what's coming to mind right now. :)

  4. Hmm...what's on my list? I don't have a list! I want/need pretty much everything sale and full price. Lists don't work for me when it comes to Anthropologie. I have an addiction, I probably (definitely) need help, but with free shipping ending soon, :( waah!, I believe I will be able to control my impulse shopping. Hopefully...

  5. I love making lists, especially when it comes to Anthro wishlists. :-)
Like you, I haven't gotten to try on the Compeer dress because it never came to my store, but I'm intrigued by it and I really hope it makes it to second cut.

My sale list includes the Hallowed Halls Oxfords, Scribbled Bouquet Cardigan, Two Wheeler Shirtdress, In A Twinkling Dress (holding out for second cut), Sugar & Cream Dress, To A Tee Blazer, Acting Out Skirt and Lost Time Skirt.

My full priced list is shorter but I'd probably pay full price for the Anselle Necklace and the Kinship Blouse.

Thanks for sharing your lists! It's fun to read what others are pining for. ;-)

  7. Oh jeez...what isn't on my wishlist? I want the Lost Time Skirt, the Gifted Skirt, the White Noise Skirt, and the Mimetic Skirt and that's just the skirts! I gave in today and ordered the Licorice Lanes Skirt (why the heck not...my online shopping cart was already overflowing). I just couldn't wait anymore!! Then today I got to try on the new jacket by Tabitha that isn't online yet and it was love at first sight! This just may be my next full price purchase.

  8. Hey carol and Kathryn

  9. I think the Compeer dress is definitely worth it at sale price. I was going to order it myself this morning, but I was talking to CS and they said they had 121 of the dresses in a size S. So I thought I could wait a little longer to see if it makes it to second cut. A lot of the Tracey Reese stuff makes it to second cut because of the wonky fit.

  10. Definitely agree that lists are a good idea of keeping focus on what's truly important....umm,, although it feels like everything is on the list! Some purchases were definitely made today, the Vappu dress of all things that I never did get to try on, so maybe it's more of a try-on order??

  11. I don't know how many times I can use my October birthday to justify purchases in August...however, I think I will be caving to the Compeer Dress sooner then later and using that as my excuse. I red puffy heart LOVE that dress. It just went on sale sooner then I thought and it's still more then I should spend. But it *is* my birthday in two months ;)

I loved seeing your lists! I need to get my game plan down in writing, too.

  12. WELL - my lists aren't as concrete (written out), but unfortunately for my bank account, the chantico tank and abuzz cardi were on my sale list. And I even found the chantico in the ever elusive pink :x. Full price list is apparently open to impulse buys, however that bird dress that freaked Katheryn out was at the top of it. And wouldn't you know it, my store just happened to get it in today :x.

In my defense, today was a very busy and stressful day!

    Still on my lists...

    Full Price:
    Brief Meeting Blazer
    British Poise Cincher
    Discovered Lace Dress
    Fossil Flats

    Sale:
    Vestiges dress
    Rushing Ruffle dress
    Scribbled Bouquet Cardigan
    Stemmed Sweetbriar Dress
    Well-Wisher Jacket

  13. Sadly the UK site doesn't have the wishlist facility so I use Amazon so I don't have to keep lists in my head!

The Babergh dress is almost gone from the site, only a 4 and 14 left, sob sob. I'd love the Winding Road, Molded & Melded, Unveiled tees to all drop into our sale soon. I really want the Dagmar dress but not at full price, the Mirror Mirror tank, One after Another Cardi, Split Decision Cardi, Bunch & Bundles tee... basically anything embellished or ruffled, please go on sale in future : )

  14. Such a great idea to make lists! I always taught that writing things down makes them more concrete, so perhaps this would assist me in staying on-budget. At the moment my closet is sitting well with me, so my list of wants is all waiting for sale -- the Gentle Loops Necklace, Ellsworth Blouse and the Alma Shirt are tops on my list. It's tough when so much I want goes on sale at once though!!

  15. Carol,
So happy you got the Dog Trot Cardi!!!! What Store do you shop in? When I order that sweater I want to make sure to get the one with pink dogs and ours only has white. Thanks, Kristina

  16. Oh, it was so great seeing all your lists too! What fun. =D Thanks for sharing, everyone.

@Kristina - I shop in the Fashion Valley store in San Diego. I also saw the pink and white Dog Trot cardi in Newport Beach's Fashion Island store. I'm so glad you like it too!
