A Blog Sale (Shopping In Pursuit of Pretty Things)

Hi everyone!  Happy Tuesday!  I don't know about the rest of you, but I was very relieved not to have to resist anything during today's sale at Anthro - it was pretty rough last week (and I failed a little - but oddly, on things that had already been on sale for a while and had popped back into my wishlist - darn those popbacks!) and I don't know if I'd have been able to do it again.  Particularly if any of my wishlisted items showed up.

As many of you know, I recently made-over my closet, so was able to do a ton of sorting of clothes, revealing that I had a lot of beautiful pieces that I don't wear anymore - most of them because they're too big for me now.  I purchased a lot of these items while I was still losing my baby weight, which I know wasn't smart - but I felt so frumpy and wanted pretty things that fit! My silliness is possibly to your benefit, though, if you find any of these things to your liking.  They all come from a smoke-free, pet-free home.  If you have any questions about any of the items or would like to purchase one, email me at carol.prettythings[at]gmail.com.  Items will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, and I take paypal payments only.  I ship via USPS priority mail and shipping is included in the price.

**SOLD** Leifsdottir "Castle Rose" silk blouse, size 6; $35 shipped (originally purchased at Nordstrom).
I bought this and only wore it twice.  It's in excellent used condition and has been dry cleaned.  So pretty, and looking for a good home.  Scoop neck with ruffle, and adjustable waist ties.  Wonderful top for year-round wear.  I paired it with a black pencil skirt and black skinny jeans.

**SOLD** Guinevere cardigan, size Small, $30 shipped (originally purchased at Anthropologie)
Pretty black wool-blend cardigan with ivory placket and black crocheted lace detail.  Peplum flounce around the waist and hook-and-eye closure.  Good used condition.  I love it, but it's slightly big on me now, and I just don't pull it out anymore, because of that.  It's so pretty, it deserves to be worn.

**SOLD** Woodside Walk Blouse, size P, $25 shipped (originally purchased at Anthropologie)
This one I bought because of the catalogue shot (see photo below), but it never quite worked as well on me as it does on the model.  I didn't try it on in the store, because I was in a hurry and was so in love with it, I was convinced it would be awesome.  I still wore it a handful of times, because I couldn't believe that a top I loved so much didn't love me back.  It's like a sad romance.  Hopefully you'll have a better time with it.  Wonderful for the fall and winter.  Very good used condition.  (Hmm...maybe I just needed to try it with the scarf...)

**SOLD** Pale gold tie blouse, size XS, Libertine for Target Collection, $15 shipped
NWOT.  I loved this blouse so much, I bought it a size too small because they were out of my size in my local stores, and because it's too small, I never wore it.  It's SO adorable - such a pretty soft gold color and the sheen!  Did I mention it's 100% silk?  I loved the Libertine for Target collection - it's one of my favorite Target designer collaborations.   I mean, look at this blouse! Need I say more?

Silk blouse, BCBGMaxAzria, size XS, $30 shipped (originally purchased at BCBG boutique)
I purchased this blouse to wear to a holiday party (paired it with black tuxedo trousers) a couple years ago.  I've only worn it twice ever, but was loathe to let go of it because it was pricey and because it seemed timeless (I think BCBG puts this top out every year, in different colors).  Great for parties (so chic and sophisticated with the trousers) and wonderful layered under a suit.  Smocked panels on front and back and empire-style waist.

**SOLD** Nanette Lepore Dress, size 6, $35 shipped (originally purchased on Gilt.com)
Oh, I wish I could have shrunk this dress with me!  I like it so much - it's got these wonderful flutter sleeves that has a very vintage feel to them and a deep v-neck with a panel that hooks in (with a hook-and-eye closure) if you want a more modest look, which I was grateful for.  It's got an empire style waist, and the orange and purple print is so perfect for fall.  If it wasn't too big for me, I'd be wearing it with a dark chocolate-y brown leather jacket and tall boots.

Liberty of London for Target Ruffle Dress, size 4, $15 shipped
This dress is NWOT.  I didn't get a chance to try it on in the store, so just purchased it by the hold-it-up-to-me-and-wish-for-the-best method (not recommended).  It was too big, and I would have gone back and exchanged it, except that I misplaced the receipt, and you know how unforgiving Target's return policy is.  Sigh.  My lapse is your gain.

**SOLD** Liberty of London for Target Dress, size S, $15 shipped.
This one is NWT.  Same receipt, same story as above.  Knee-length with ribbon belt at waist.  So pretty - I love the colors on this one.

**SOLD**Theory Silk Shirtdress, size 4, $40 shipped (originally purchased at Nordstrom)
This black silk shirtdress (you know how I love shirtdresses) is too big for me now, so it's off to a new home.  Pintucks on bodice, functional buttons all the way down, and hits just above the knee.  Comes with double-wrap skinny belt.  Excellent used condition.

**SOLD** Lorick ensemble dress, size 4, NWT, $45 shipped (originally purchased on Gilt.com)
I loved the look of this dress so much, I bought it while pregnant. Yep, talk about delusional.  But I kept thinking that eventually, I'd lose the weight, and I'd be able to wear it.  Except, that now that I can get it on, I realize that I'm too short-waisted for it - the skirt and waist fit perfectly, but the top bunches in the back (this is the same problem I have with the wonderful Tabitha ensemble dresses).  My favorite part of this is the skirt - it's textured and has the coolest pleats (for lack of a better word) which you can kind of see in the photos below.  This is a very sophisticated dress.  Please note before purchasing - runs small (fits an "Anthro" size 2) and is better for longer-waisted women.

Banana Republic Factory Store Dress, size Small, $25 shipped, NWOT
This dress is another dress I bought when pregnant (I know, I know, I don't know what was wrong with me - for those of you who have never been pregnant before, please learn from my mistakes, and no matter how well you imagine something will look on you, just leave it there on the rack) for the beautiful plum color (the photos just don't do it justice) and the easy style.  It is, however, too long on me (hits below my knee), and too big overall, so lesson learned.  It has an attached sash-style waist band which ties in the back.

**SOLD** Leifdottir Curled Zinnia Dress, size 6, $50 shipped (originally purchased at Nordstrom)
Of all the things I regret not being able to wear anymore, I think this is the one I regret the most.  I love this dress so much, I considered taking it to a good tailor and seeing if they could make it into a size 2 for me, except, there's so much amazing detailing (the gathers on the sleeves, the ruffled neck, the waist tie, the buttons) that I have no confidence it could be done particularly well and I don't want to risk paying a large amount of money to see the dress mangled.  Please note: when I bought this dress, I had the scoop neck brought up by an inch - it was quite low originally (see photo here) - but I found it to make the dress much more wearable day to day. The alteration was done at Nordstrom, by their very talented alterations department, and you can't tell that anything has been changed.  The dress also runs small, I think - this 6 probably fits more like a 4.  I love this dress, and I hope you'll be able to wear it lots and lots - she deserves it! Perfect for the fall (I wore it last fall and winter with boots, tights, and a long cardi thrown over it), made of silk, with side pockets, dry clean.  Excellent used condition.

Thanks for looking!
