Unworn Item Challenge, Days 13, 14 & 15

Happy Saturday, Y'all!

I hope you're all doing well! I'm having a...somewhat relaxing Saturday. I woke up early to help the Husband track down things for his Halloween costume and then came home to do 18,799 loads of laundry and watch my crappy Ducks take on the Detroit Red Wings.

My boys ended up giving up the go-ahead goal to Pavel Datsyuk with 11 seconds to go in the game, losing 5-4.

So, um. I decided to blog my outfits to try and lower my blood pressure.

Okay! Here we go!

Day 13 - Unworn Item: Peppered & Striped Skirt, styled with J.Crew Painter tee (similar here), Cara Accessories Crystal & Bow Necklace and Target Merona "Myka" Wedges in Grey.

This was my outfit for Wednesday, when I proudly wore purple in support of the LGBT community.

There's something to be said when you like your outfit so much that you don't want to take it off. I love this skirt. As the beautiful Kelly would say, I love it with a big, red heart. It's so comfortable, and I just love the happy polka dots on it. I'm actually trying to figure out if there's some way that I can pull off wearing this skirt every week...

As you can see, I pulled out my Crystal & Bow necklace again. It's such a fun piece to wear, though I do have one little issue with it - the clasp is on the left-hand side. I can't fasten it the other way though, because the bow won't show properly. This is incredibly frustrating, if you're right-handed like me. I usually have to try several times to get the clasp on this necklace to fasten properly. Grr.

Day 14 - Unworn Item: Oh, Hello Friend Belt, styled with Bianka Blouse, Michael by Michael Kors Ponte Knit Pencil Skirt and Target Merona "Myka" Suede Wedges in Black.

So this was my outfit that I wore to meet Jason Wu down in San Diego, with Carol. The belt is a new acquisition from Danni of Oh, Hello Friend. She plans to set up her online store again soon, and this time she hopes to have an entire section for belts! I loved the color and the style of this belt, and I thought it played off the colors of the Bianka Blouse nicely.

This is actually my second time wearing the Bianka Blouse, and I just adore it. The first time I wore it was on Day 2 of the "Unworn Item Challenge," where I styled it with black J.Brand leggings, Frye "Jane" boots and an Oh, Hello Friend pocketwatch necklace:

I love the various styling options that this blouse offers. A big red heart again, for this blouse. A big, puffy red heart.

Day 15 - Unworn Item: Forever 21 Infinity Scarf, styled with Blu Sand Denim Jacket, Rubbish V-neck Tee (similar here), Express Leggings and Steven by Steve Madden "Intyce" Boots.

I picked this scarf up at Forever 21 recently at the wonderful price of $9.80. It's so soft and fluffy and perfect for chilly days.

I do have a feeling I'm going to need a good sweater shaver for it, though. Does anybody have any good recommendations?

The jacket is a piece that I've had for what feels like a billion years. I picked it up from a store called "Blu Sand" when I was passing through Rome. I love its slim, flattering cut, and it's held up remarkably well, throughout the years. The Italians sure know their fashion. ^_^

I also had on a cute little camera ring from Oh, Hello Friend:

I can't wait until Danni's store comes online again!

Well, that pretty much sums up my latest outfits in my October challenge. Before I go, I want to apologize for not getting back to all of your lovely comments. I've been so busy lately that I haven't gotten a chance to respond to you all. But please know that I do read every single one of your comments and they make me smile big. I'm going to try and get back to you all, I promise! A big, puffy red heart to you all!

Thanks so much for reading!

  1. KAthryn, what can i say, i love all your outfits. The peppered and striped skirt is adorable on you and gives you a sort of 50s look. The bianka blouse is absolutely gorgeous and i love how you wore it with the skirt and with the leggings. It clearly is a blouse that can work with a lot of things!

  2. I love your outfits, both you and Carol inspire me to try new pairings of the things in my wardrobe as well as buy new things to add to it. Thank you for sharing these with me, I am going to break out my Intyce boots and start rocking them again now that its cold enough!

  5. I love all three (well 4) looks!... again, super sad I missed the black bianka, i do really think its my favorite of all the motifs. And the skirt is perfect with the pop of purple...

i really love this feature (although saying that may encourage you to buy more things to not wear haha)

  6. All of these outfits are fabulous! The Peppered and Striped Skirt looks SO good on you. I tried it on, but it looked terrible on me. I have the black Bianka, so thanks for giving me more ideas on how to style it!

  7. You look super cute in all your outfits!! And don't you just love it when you have an item in your closet that you love so much that you feel like you can wear it everyday and not care what anyone thinks!! You need to find ways to wear this skirt because it is absolutely darling on you :)

  8. Love the purple top with the Peppered and Striped Skirt! Perfect combo for fall. Did you get your skirt in a size 6? Oh and what size did you get the Precious Materials Cardigan in?

  9. Love your looks here! I'm totally copying that leggings/jeans/tee/infinity scarf look! I just need to find a cute scarf like that! Super cute! And Intyce boots are the best! I have them in cognac (purchased early last year) and love how they look the more I wear them!

  10. Love your new belt, and look at that teensy waist! You are gorgeous in the Peppered and Striped skirt too, I love it with the purple! I'm excited for the Etsy store to reopen again too - perfect timing for the holidays :)

  11. This is probably a bizarre question, but what is the benefit of wearing leggings than jeans? I ask because I bought a pair of leggings, and I find myself reaching for a pair of jeans over leggings haha. Why did you choose to pair your outfit with leggings over jeans? Just curious. Maybe I should start wearing my leggings :) Cute outfit!

  12. @Jen - Thank you! You are so sweet! =D That 50s look is exactly what I was going for and is exactly why I love that skirt! I was actually watching, "Far From Heaven" the other day and I was swooning over Julianne Moore's clothes - such flattering silhouettes (though it's a sad movie =( ).

@Brianna - Thank you for your kind compliments! I'm often inspired by other bloggers, so it's such a thrill to hear that Carol and I can inspire other people. Yay!!!

And the Intyce are some of my favorite boots!

@Tara - The Bianka's just great, isn't it? It's no wonder that it's flying off the racks in all colors/motifs!

@Alicia Marie - Thanks thanks! Big, puffy red heart to you for reading! =)

@E Hayes - Thank you! I think the Black Motif is my favorite too. It's funny - initially I was reluctant to pair the gold polka dots with the purple top, for fear of it looking too "L.A. Lakers"-ish. But I ended up liking the pairing so much, I didn't care. =)

And yay! I'm glad you like this feature! It'll be interesting to see if I can make it through the month...though I do manage to keep finding things I haven't worn yet, haha!

@Bonnie - Thank you! I'm sorry the Peppered & Striped didn't work out for you =(, but yay for the black Bianka! =)

@jadan - Thanks so much! I'm looking forward to wearing this skirt a lot this fall! ^_^

@Sara - Hi Size Twin! =) Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier! My Peppered & Striped skirt is a size 6. I just felt more comfortable in the 6 than the 4, though I could've really gotten either one and been fine. As for the Precious Materials, my store only had a Small so that's what I have. Looking at the photos now, I do notice the buttons pull a little bit so I wish I could've tried on a Medium to see if it'd be better. Sadface. Guess I'll either have to lose weight or wear it unbuttoned...

@Michelle - Thank you! I think you can still find that F21 scarf in stores. And my friend Debbie found a pretty pink one at H&M. Good luck! Oh, and I love my Intyce Boots too! =)

@Jan - Thank you muchly! My waist doesn't feel so teensy these days, so to hear (read?) that makes me smile! I am hoping that Danni re-opens her online store by the end of the year...she'll be selling down in San Diego next week, so she said she'll try to get her store up and running after that. Fingers crossed!

@Anonymous - Not a bizarre question, thanks for asking! Um, well...this is just me, but I sometimes find my skinny jeans feel tight (I like food...like, a LOT), and so I reach for leggings/jeggings for more comfort. Sometimes I think that's why jeggings have really taken off over the past year - they're softer and more comfortable, and they don't stretch out like jeans can and often do.

Also, when I'm at work I get tired of sitting at my desk, so I get up to move around. Sometimes I even do yoga in the office, and it's much easier to do that in leggings than in jeans. Yes, I've been caught doing "Downward Dog" and "Warrior 3" while at work. ;o)

Hope that helps! Thanks for reading! =)

  13. Morning Kathryn
Love the Peppered Skirt, you are really racing through your unworn items challenge. Go you!
The Bianka is lovely, I didn't think it was very me when it first popped up on the blogs but now I want it, in either the "blue" or "black" motifs. I like how you made it both work and off-duty appropriate.
Will Oh Hello Friend be online just in the US?

  14. I love all of these outfits Kathryn! This unworn items challenge is such a good idea. I might have to try it myself. :-)

  15. I loved how you paired the Bianca Blouse with the tights and boots. Must steal that idea! :)

  16. I love all of the outfits!!!! You look so good in them! I really need to learn how to make that scarf tho.

  17. @Louis - Morning! (or is it afternoon now?) Haha, thanks! To be honest, I didn't love the Bianka when it first appeared online - it was only after I saw it on several SAs at the store that I fell in love.

I'm not sure if Oh Hello Friend sells internationally, but I'll be sure to ask her if/when I get the chance!

@Debbie - Aww, thanks so much! It's funny, I was actually inspired to try this challenge because of my other friend Debbie ! It's been a lot of fun, actually...everyday I get to put on something new! =)

@Cindi - Thanks! I like it because the whole ensemble is comfy, yet still stylish!

@shira - Thanks!!! And yes, yes you do. And when you learn how to make that scarf, can you make me one in pink? ;o)

  18. Oh wow, I love the Peppered and Striped skirt on you! So cute! And I like how you tied in your outfit with supporting a cause. :) And that little camera ring? I MUST HAVE IT.

  19. Love all of these outfits. I especially love the Frye boots with that top and jeans, and the F21 scarf looks so cozy!

  20. @amy kelinda - Thank you! =) I'm hoping Danni sets up her store again soon...she always has so much more selection at her booths than she does online, so if you don't see something available in her store you can always message her. She's a fabulous person, so I love promoting her!

@J - Thanks so much! The Fryes + Bianka blouse + jeans might be my favorite combo these days. So comfortable! And I love the F21 scarf!
