Unworn Item Challenge, Days 6 & 7: Accessories

Hello, everyone!

I hope you're all having a good week so far!

Late last week, some friends and I decided to join a wellness program through work. It wasn't difficult to convince me to join, since one of the incentives was a free pedometer. And I love free stuff.

Apparently the goal is to log 10,000 steps per day for "optimal health." Now, I'd always considered myself relatively fit with regular yoga practice and jogs around the neighborhood, but my first couple days with the pedometer yielded less than 5,000 steps per day. (Granted, I didn't exercise those days, but still. I was shocked at how little I actually walked, without exercise.)

So as a result, a couple of my co-workers and I have been going for walks on our breaks in order to get to our goal of 10,000. Which means these are the outfits I've been wearing while going for power walks.

[apologies for the dark and tightly cropped photos - it was late by the time I got home to shoot these outfits, and I'm without my wide angle lens at the moment]

Day 6 - Unworn Item: Oh, Hello Friend Ring, styled with Height of Summer Dress in Navy, J.Crew "Jackie" Cardigan in Bright Seaside (current version here), Looping Lanes Belt (now available in Chocolate) and Tory Burch Miller Sandals (available here).

I was inspired to try this mint-and-navy color combo after seeing it on Jinah a couple of weeks ago here. I thought the lightness of the mint worked nicely with the dark navy, so I thought I'd give it a try for myself.

This is exactly why I love reading fashion blogs - you are all so creative and inspiring, and I dress better and my wardrobe choices have expanded because of you!

Another reason I wanted to wear my mint-colored cardi was so that I could work in this little ring that I picked up *cough cough* last spring *cough* and have...er...uh...never worn:

It's hard to tell from this photo, but this ring is a little kitty-cat with its tail in the air, set with a pearl and a mint-colored rose. And this ring has been sitting in my drawer for the better part of...uh...six months.

...yeah.

I really hope I don't end up on an episode of Hoarders.

Day 7 - Unworn Item: Sequin Long Station Necklace, styled with J.Crew Coralie Cami in Wild Mushroom, B.B. Dakota cropped linen blazer, American Eagle Skinny Jeans in Grey (on sale here), J.Crew Skinny Belt in Metallic Tulip (similar here) and Seychelles Bette Flats.

I originally bought this necklace during Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale...uh...*gulp*...over two months ago. I figured it was finally time to wear it.

Like Carol said the other day, this necklace is very versatile and super pretty. The one I'm wearing is in the "Pink Pearl" colorway. I'm wearing it doubled in this shot, while Carol is wearing it tripled in the Traveling Mullanys post.

The J.Crew Coralie Cami was part of my Labor Day Sale haul. I'd loved it on Chloe, and then seeing it on Roxy put me over the edge. The color is just heart-meltingly pretty, and the fact that it was on sale only sweetened the deal.

Here's a shot of the first time I wore this cami that I never got around to posting (along with the Forever 21 Vintage Charm Necklace which I picked up over Labor Day as well...again, thanks to Kim's recommendation and Chloe's coupon code!):

...and yeah, this really just means that this is the second time I've worn this outfit. Hahaha! What can I say, I'm a serial outfit-repeater!

Okee doke...I'm off to run around the neighborhood for a bit!

  1. I'd be interested in seeing how many steps I take during a day. I think I walk a lot, but I bet I don't. When it comes down to it, I'm doing more sitting than walking!

Again, congratulations on the keeping up with your challenge!

  2. Hello again!
I did the 10,000 steps challenge a few years ago and i found it frustrating! It was difficult to reach 10,000 steps. it required me to go for long walks on my lunch breaks, and although i climbed up 5 flights of stairs to work each morning, that only added a mere extra 200 (two hundred) steps! WHAT THE??!
I still climb up stairs each morning (my ONLY exercise, apart from shopping), but wil not be doing the challenge again...i'm just going to have to do more shopping and rely on incidental exercise..hehe
Anyway, you look fab in your OOTD- loving the cute little cropped blazer and ruffled shirt!
    Cheers
    Jen

  5. In college the school challenged the staff to a step challenge and gave cash prizes for the most steps. I had no car in college so was regularly walking every where for my needs and in downtown boston a lot with the public transportation so I was stepping up to 20,000 steps a day! It was insane, especially when I compare it to my numbers now!

I really like the mint and navy combo on you, I did quite a bit of that this summer, it just seemed so fresh!
