30 for 30 Remix Challenge (Items and Day 1)

Hi everyone, and happy Monday! I've joined Kendi and 337 other bloggers in the 30 for 30 Remix Challenge for fall. I desperately need to take a shopping hiatus, and well, it's good to flex your creative muscles, right? Right. ^_^ All I know is, literally up to the moment that I decided what to put on Sunday morning (which turned out to be my Day 1), I was second-guessing my decision to do this. There are just so many things in my closet that I want to wear...but it's really time to take and enforce some "austerity measures" (in solidarity with England, Spain, and Greece...and yes, I have been listening to a lot of NPR lately) and I'm excited to try out this little experiment.

So, for those of you who are new to this, let me explain really quickly. Basically, someone who decides to participate in a 30 for 30 Remix Challenge is agreeing to choose 30 items, including shoes but not including accessories or coats, and create outfits from those 30 items for the next 30 days. It also includes a shopping ban for the duration of the challenge period. The following are my 30 items for the challenge:

1. Hellebore Sweater Skirt, Anthropologie, 2. Peppered and Striped Skirt, Anthropologie, 3. Hop Skip Jump Skirt, Anthropologie (are we noticing a trend here?), 4. Denim Pencil Skirt, United Colors of Benetton, 5. Tweed Herringbone Band Jacket, Gap, 6. Konnichiwa Sweater, Anthropologie, 7. Blooming Lattice Sweater, Anthropologie, 8. Field Game Sweater, Anthropologie, 9. Ha'penny Sweater, Anthropologie, and 10. Merona Essential Cardigan, Target

I have a couple items to me that were ordered in the past week, and are on their way. When they arrive, I'll make a decision about what will be the final item to make the cut into my 30 for 30.

And since I went ahead and started on Sunday, I'll post that outfit now, as Day 1:

The outfit is, admittedly, somewhat uninspired - but I quite literally did nothing but hang out with family all day. And I was completely comfy and totally machine washable. ^_- (You're probably thinking, "Why is she so obsessed with how to launder her clothing?" because I talk about it so much. Believe me, small children will do it to you.)

Wishing myself and everyone else participating in this challenge, good luck!

  1. so many lovely cardigans!! great picks and i love your first outfit! perfect for a casual weekend. :)

i'm doing the challenge too and just posted my outfit for day 1. best of luck with the challenge!!

  2. You made some awesome choices. I'm so jealous of all of the remixers who picked lots of color and pattern. I was wimpy!!!

  3. Good Luck with the Challenge Carol! I did it last time around and it was definitely a challenge, but admittedly great for creativity! Can't wait to see your remix since we have some of the same items!
Funny you talk about laundering - I see it quite often on blogs, but I have to admit, I dry-clean about 98% of everything from Anthro. I just get too scared of ruining something and regretting it.

  4. These are really pretty choices, Carol! Your first outfit looks so comfy and casual and the red top makes it pop, not uninspired at all! I love the L.A.M.B. Tippy flats, those look comfy! Good luck with the challenge. With these pieces, it shouldn't be that hard.

  5. I don't know if I could do this, but I really admire your commitment! It doesn't hurt that all your choices are so adorable-- I love that you included the gorgeous Philip Lim dress :)

  6. I think your first outfit is very cute indeed! Good luck with the challenge Carol :)

  7. I think you picked some great pieces that will enable to remix with great creativity. :) I can't wait to see how you style the hellebore skirt. And machine washable? Yes, I have coworkers that tell me the same thing about kids.

  8. Great choices, Carol! I was afraid my choices would be too Anthro-heavy, but I don't regret it at all. I feel pretty uninspired for my first outfit too, you'll see later today. But I love the Rose is a Rose tank! I considered including it in the challenge, but I wore it last week. I should have washed it :)

  9. Oh, I LOVE the pink & heather gray together! So lovely, today, tomorrow & forever! Very classic.

  10. Yay for joining in on the challenge! Now you just need to find a way to convince Kathryn to do it too! You have quite a few pieces in your 30 that are in my closet, so I'm excited to see what you do with them :)

  11. Hey Carol, I really envy your wardrobe! I'm loving the casual cool of your day one outfit. It looks relaxed, yet girlie with the ruffles. Great choices for the challenge, i wish you the best :-)
