Winter White (OOTD)

There's a fashion rule that says no white after Labor Day...

...I consider these rules more like, "guidelines."

Sweater: Field Game Cardigan, Anthropologie (similar here and here and designer version here)
Dress: Beda Dress, Anthrologie (similar here and with a gray skirt here, and OMG, polka dots here!)
Tights: Hue (similar here and here)
Boots: Franco Sarto (super old...2004? Similar here and here)
Necklace: Zodiac Heirloom necklace, Anthropologie (sold out online, still available in stores)

Sara winterized her green Beda in this post, and I was inspired to try it out with my white Beda. I confess to feeling a little conspicuous in my bright white dress at first, as I felt surrounded by a sea of darker colors, but doesn't Mother Nature prefer to don white herself, in the winter? Well, maybe not in San Diego, but other places.  ^_^ Which inspired me to share this photo, taken in my first winter in Troy, NY:

Hope you're all staying warm!

  1. I love the White in Winter look! I am partial to white ALL YEAR LONG! I love white skirts, white pants, white shirts... you look adorable. I think I just might copy this if I can pickup the tights tomorrow in the color you used. (It is freezing in the SF Bay today!). Great job - as usual!

  11. Wow Carol, I saw Sara's post and thought, hey, maybe I should wear my Beda too this winter, but I restricted that thought to my green one because I didn't even consider the white one an option! But cognac and grey is a smart, effective and beautiful way to winterize this dress -- brilliant job :) You look great!

  15. I think the "no white in winter" rule is just begging to be broken. And I love that you're imitating nature (or, at least, nature in some parts of the country), by wearing some white in winter.

  17. I love the winter white look on you. The 'no-white" after labor day rule is truly just a guideline that I NEVER follow ;)

  18. I wonder who makes up these guidelines for winter dressing?! You can wear bright white in winter as you have just shown us. I'm loving the combo Carol and am seriously enjoying these outside shots :-)

  19. Who makes these crazy rules Carol!? You look great, I think white works all year round! As long as whatever white item you are wearing isn't so thin you are covered in goosebumps then why the heck not :)

  20. Wow you're quick! I was just thinking to myself the other day that it's funny how we're surrounded by white snow all winter long and the first color most people think of when they think of winter is white, but for some reason, we're not supposed to wear it. It doesn't make sense to me and I'm glad you showed us that it can be done! Great job :)

  21. The new tripod is awesome! I love these outdoor shots, mainly because there is green (and no snow)! I've thought about wearing white too this winter, but haven't because my skin is so white, I'd look like a ghost. You don't look like a ghost though, you look like an angel!
