It's a Small World (Nordstrom & Disney Collaboration)

The other day, I was in Nordstrom (I know, shocking, right?) getting some new shoes for Rowan, when my eye fell upon this window display:

It's a Small World window display at North County Nordstrom, San Diego
Many of you may know that I <3 Disneyland!!! And I really really <3 It's a Small World! It's one of those rides that gives me warm fuzzies every time I go on it. "Though the oceans are wide and the mountains divide, it's a small world after all."

Isn't it the truth?

Anyway, turns out that Disney is collaborating with Nordstrom to commemorate the 45th anniversary of this fantastic ride on a collection for infants and toddlers. I really wish they'd included some items for kids and adults too (Toms, please!!!) but regardless, I love what they came up with. This limited-edition collection is inspired by artist Mary Blair's fantastic mid-century designs, and every season, a new set of pieces will be released, themed off different regions and countries of the world. It's starting with "Japanese Spring," which will be followed by "Indian Summer" in June, "Scottish Fall," in September, and "Russian Holiday," in November. Unsurprisingly, there is a philanthropic component to this collaboration - funds raised from the sale of the FEED project "It's a Small World" items will benefit UNICEF (It's a Small World's original beneficiary from 1964) and the with the purchase of a Toms item, a new pair of shoes will be donated to a child in need.

And for you Disney fans/collectors, customers will receive a special, limited edition lithograph of Mary Blair's artwork - one new one for each season.

Mary Blair Lithograph, free with purchase from the It's a Small World collection!

Can you believe the cuteness of these Disney It's a Small World Toms??? I love them! I want some for myself, haha! (And as with all Toms, when you buy a pair, Toms will donate a new pair of shoes to a child in need.)

Is that "mischief" written all over her face or what?

Thanks for reading!

  1. I heard about this and was excited! That was one of my first songs. I remember singing it on the swingset with our neighbor girl when I was four. She was teaching it to me. When I finally went to Disneyland for the first time 10.5 years ago at 27yo, it was the first and last ride we rode. I had to do an encore.

The girls' Tom's are so adorable, and so is Kate!

  3. Thanks for sharing this ADORABLE line form Disney. I have an old book with a tape that plays the song. Great memories! I wish I had a daughter to buy the "konichiwa" tee for - I may just buy it because I love it. Your little girl looks as sweet as can be - her mischief pose gave me a chuckle.

  4. Ohhh I want to buy some of these items. However, they aren't offering the lithograph with online purchases and we don't have a Nordstrom yet. The closest one is over 3 hours away in another state. Also, I do wish they would have done a few adult pieces too. I'm jealous they are just for the little ones.

  7. These are soo lovely. Funny thing, I never went on It's A Small World when I was at Disney World :) There was such a huge crowd, the line was too long and there were other rides to... line up for. :( Now, I want to get back and try it.

  14. Tee-Hee, I heart that song too... and now it's stuck in my head. My DH is giving me weird looks as I keep humming that melody. And when I was in grade school, I sang that song for a school concert. Even though I was a lil Chinese girl, my teacher made me don a Dutch Lady garb. And we all held hands and danced around in a circle. Ah, to be young again.
Your kids are just such cutie patooties!
