Ms. Spade (A Quickie Review)

Hello, everyone! Hope you're all doing well. I don't have a lot of time, but thought I'd throw up a dress review that I took photos for a couple weeks ago, and never got around to sharing.

This year, for some reason I can't really fathom, Kate Spade apparel has really caught my eye. And I'm not totally sure why. There's not a whole lot of difference between her dress shapes, silhouettes, and colors from this and past years - she's always created really pretty, really ladylike, slightly preppy-but-quirky pieces. And I've always given them a quick glance and moved on.

But this year? This year, I keep stopping and taking another look. And this past month? Well, I actually picked up a couple and took them into the fitting room with me.

I'm wearing it in a size 0, and I love it! There's something very substantial and structured about Ms. Spade's dresses - whether it's the fabric (silk for this dress) or the cut or the details - all of it combines to make you feel like you're wearing Quality. The dress has a side zip and a small button closure at the top of the keyhole in the front. The keyhole did open up the tiniest bit when I was moving around in this dress, so for work purposes, I think I'd have a hook-and-eye added in the middle of it, to keep it closed. The skirt hit me right above the knee, so was a good length, though after seeing the model shots, I do wonder if I should take it up an inch or so more. Anyway, I'll definitely be sale-stalking this one. Because, you know...a girl just can't have too many dotted and ruffled dresses. ^_-

Tomorrow's the last day for entering the blog-iversary giveaway. Make sure you check it out for your chance to win a $100 gift card for Anthroplogie. And as always, thanks for reading!

  2. The dress looks great on you. I've been waiting for someone to review the fit for Kate Spade items, despite being in Washington, DC none of the department stores carry her merchandise besides bags and shoes.

  3. That dress is adorable on you, Carol! And oh how I empathize with your newfound interest in Kate Spade. I don't get why this year of all years I keep coming back to those pretty frocks. They are still as out of my price range as they've always been. haha

  6. Such a pretty dress. I've been eying it too. Anjali put it on my radar with her Kate Spade post last month.

  10. Yes, the polka dots and ruffles are a lovely combination. Thumbs up for this dress. And I don't know if anyone has asked this before, but did you name your daughter Kate after Kate Spade? Ha, just kidding. Although naming your children after world renowned designers is not a bad idea...

  16. ok, i'm new to your blog, and as much as i love the chatting and input on clothing, i MUST say that my favorite part of this entry is the fact that your daughter is sitting on the floor of the dressing room while you're doing this!!!!!! my two boys are too old now (10 and 13) to come into the dressing room with me now, but oh i remember those days!!!!!! my method is still the same though, some kind of treat (some new toy, chips, or lollipops) to keep them happy while i shop!!!
