A Perfect Spring Dress (Quickie Review)

Hello, everyone! Hope your weekend is going well. Mine's been really lovely so far. It's been full but productive couple of days, and yes, I have been enjoying my "free-ness" this weekend.

One of my errands I ran yesterday took me to the mall to pick up a birthday gift for my brother, which meant that I had to walk through Nordstrom, which took me past the Kate Spade dress display, which means my eye fell upon this:

This could very well be my definition of a perfect spring dress! I couldn't resist the stunning colors and print on this dress, and in spite of the fact that there were no size 0s or 2s in the store, I had to try this one on. I'm actually wearing the size 4, and as this is a true wrap dress, I was able to pull the dress's surplice far enough around to get a reasonable approximation of the fit. Because I'm short, narrow-shouldered, and short-waisted, wrap dresses are often a mess on me. For instance, the classic Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress never works on my body, due to fit issues. But this one - I found it to be just about perfect, even though it was slightly big due to the size.

I love this dress.

In these photos, the red portion of the print came out looking like coral, but in real life, it's much more red, as you can see in the model shots. I absolutely adore the juxtaposition of the pool blue against the red, and the added ruffle details really just make this dress perfect. I'm on a shopping ban so can't splurge on the dress now (full priced Kate Spade is a bit rich for my blood, but on sale, I can sometimes swing it), but I'll definitely be watching it carefully, to see if it goes on sale or how stock is looking in my size at Nordy's and other stores.

Detail of ruffles, color, and print.

What do you think? Does this also fit your notion of a perfect spring dress? If not, what do you imagine?

  13. I just bought this dress Saturday! It is so well made with three closures to make sure it stays in place. Love that. The associate at the Kate Spade store told me I was the fourth person to buy it that day. I think it's selling really well so you may want to buy it before it's gone!
