Sunny Side Up (OOTDs)

Happy Thursday, everyone! Hope your week is going well. The day started off overcast and cloudy, here in San Diego, and I felt the need to wear something bright and sunny to ward off the gray and gloom. Must have worked, because by late afternoon, the clouds were breaking up and the sunlight was glimmering through. See? There are benefits to looking like an egg all day!

I thought it was time I brought out the Hellebore Sweater Skirt again. I wore it quite a lot during my incomplete 30 for 30 remix attempt last fall, and so, it was relegated to the back of the closet, while I pulled out all the other things I wasn't allowed to wear during that time. When casting about for a cardigan to wear on top, I decided to go tonal with another yellow layer. I kind of love how lady-like and librarian-ish (when I wasn't feeling eggy) this outfit made me feel. It had a very different energy from yesterday's outfit.

Sometimes, changing your clothes is all it takes to make you feel like a (slightly) different person. We women can be complex, multi-dimensional creatures. I like to think that my wardrobe reflects this about me. Mmhm. Or something like that. ^_-

Hello, all!

I just have one photo of my outfit today, which was largely influenced yet again by none other than the lovely Kim of Anthroholic! When she posted her OOTD last week showing the Superfluous Bellows Hoodie, I knew I was a goner. I
immediately called CS (literally...as in I picked up my phone and pulled up Anthro on speed dial to call about this hoodie) and was able to track one down in my size in one of the local(ish) stores. I'm so glad, since it's pretty much sold out online!

Kim didn't lie - this hoodie is insanely flattering and so, so soft and comfortable.
I knew I would be heading to see my Anaheim Ducks take on the dreaded Detroit Red Wings after work, so I was more than happy to have an excuse to wear my hoodie. My outfit was a little bit of Kim (hoodie + skinnies + cognac boots), with a touch of my friend Kayla thrown in. Kayla had recently worn a hoodie with a patterned scarf and topped with a leather bomber jacket, and I really like how it all worked together. So like the giant imitator I am, I decided to give it a go!

And if you can guess by my smile in the photo, the Ducks managed to come from behind to beat the Red Wings in overtime.
^_^

Frenchi Leather Bomber (Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, 2009...similar here)
Anthropologie Superfluous Bellows Hoodie (almost sold out online, call CS for stores)
Oh, Hello Friend peacock scarf (similar-ish here)

Steven by Steve Madden Intyce in Cognac

I have to confess - this is actually already my
second time wearing this hoodie, as I wore it last weekend (the day I bought it, actually!) to hang out and sing karaoke with friends:

Worn twice in one week...that's gotta say something in terms of cost-per-wear, right? Right???

Have any of you ever done that? Loved something so much that you wore it out of the store?

Okee dokee, that's all I've got for now. As always, thank you all for reading!

  6. Kathryn-love that hoodie-wish it came in other colors-hopefully they'll bring it back. Yes, when I was a kid I used to wear new shoes out of the store, skipping all the way. I've been tempted to do this a few times as an adult, but have refrained.
    Carol-you look adorable as usual.

  7. Both outfits are adorable! Carol, I love the way you styled the hellebore! I have worn mine with black and with maroon/navy and have been trying to think of something different. I love it with the yellow cardi and the belt is perfect!
