Old and New (OOTDs)

Hi everyone! It's Friday! It's Friday! *Big deep breath* We've made it everyone. We've survived this week. Well done, all!

Next week is Rowan's spring break, so I'm taking some vacation days, which hopefully will be fun and relaxing (yet still productive - the DH and I are planning on doing some work on the backyard to make it presentable/usable)! I can't even begin to say how glad I am it's Friday. It's been a rough couple of weeks, and I think it's mostly because we've got these lingering colds/flus still working their way through the family. I'd be really grateful for a nice big helping of health in the house. But that being a few days away still, I'll take Friday and be happy for it.

Believe it or not, this OOTD contains a dress that's nearly 15 years old! (Which is amazing, since I'm only 19! Er...or something...) It's a sweet little linen sundress from Abercrombie & Fitch - purchased back in the days when I still shopped there (I've boycotted it since then for a number of reasons, the least of which not being that you have to hold your breath when walking past the entrance, in order to avoid being assaulted by a heavy cloud of cologne. Really, what is that about???). I haven't worn it in years, due to the extra weight I'd been carrying around since my first pregnancy. I hung onto it though, mostly because I loved (and continue to love) its comfortable simplicity, and well, I'm an unrelenting optimist. ^_-

Sweater: Breezy Polkas Cardigan, Anthropologie (similar here and here)
Dress: Linen sundress, Abercrombie & Fitch (similar here and here and a non-floral option here)
Shoes: Diamond Stitch Skimmers, Anthropologie (similar here and here)

Happy Friday, Everyone!

(Funny, I was just telling Carol how her opening line reminded me of the Rebecca Black song, but...let's not go there, shall we?)

It's Friday (...Friday, gotta get down on Friday...see that? I said I wasn't going to go there, and I went there), and I'm very happy because there's an outside chance that I
actually get to see Carol this weekend. I don't think I've gotten to see Carol in...let's see...forever.

I've currently got a pair of the AG Farrah jeans on hold for me at one of the San Diego stores, and since she's graciously offered to go and snap them up for me. I'm a little nervous about the sizing, since none of my local stores have them for me to try on, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Who knows, maybe if we meet up we can throw in some side-by-side reviews too, which we haven't done in forever!

Anyway this OOTD features one of the goodies I picked up in my March birthday haul, and I decided to wear it for the first time for the birthday lunch my co-workers took me to. I love this dress. I mean I
really love this dress. To me, this dress represents everything I love about the Anthropologie aesthetic - poofy skirt, pockets and a colorful, fun design. And it was pure happenstance that my old Target cardigan was a good match.

When I got home, I didn't want to take my outfit off. My darling husband even complimented me on it. Isn't it great when the person you've been married to for years can still make your heart flutter with a simple compliment?

Anthropologie Sun Shades Dress (still in some stores, I think)
Target Mossimo 3/4 Sleeve Cardigan (similar here, interesting option here)
Looping Lanes Belt
Seychelles Bette Flats (another option here)
Anthropologie Bedecked Brooch Necklace (Fall 2010)
Pearl earrings (old, similar here though)

So, what do you all have planned this weekend?

As always, thank you all for reading! ^_^

  1. @carol: i've boycotted abercrombie & fitch, too! i know at least 1 person that worked for hollister, and yeah... not cool. i wish i could still fit into things i had 15 years ago ;) hope everybody feels well real soon!

@kathryn: i hate that rebecca black has ruined a simple line like, "it's friday." i can't wait til it dies down. i prefer conan's "thursday" song, LOL. you seriously looked cute in that outfit!

  2. Wow! 15 years and you can still wear it, I`m a bit jealous ;)

It looks that spring came for good, I mean those two outfits, so girly and so spring look.

  3. carol: Oh you look so cute in this outfit. Somehow the blue and white sailor color always brings out the innocence of a girl.

Kathryn: I share the same love for the sunshade dress. I was waiting for it on sale and I panic after it is sold out on line in my size. One thing I would be careful with this dress is the shoulder strap. I saw one at the store where the strap was torn. It could be isolated instance, but I would hand by the body of the dress instead of putting all weight on the strap.

  4. hehe. I'm only 19 too :) I have never shopped at Abercrombie and would have never guessed that this dress was from there. And I never would have guessed that this dress is 15 years old. I would never be able to fit into anything I bought that long ago, and I don't have any kids! I'm super impressed :)

Kathryn: It's a good thing you love this dress because it looks really great on you! Yellow is a good colour for you. I especially love it with a cardigan and belt. I might need to get this dress for myself now :)

  5. Carol~ It's great that you saved that dress -- it is a cutie, and seems like it's versatile! I have a little white sundress from Gap that I've owned since high school. It was a bit snug then, but miraculously, I was able to shimmy into it last summer. I'm hoping it'll still fit this summer ; )

Kathryn~ My oh my -- that necklace is just gorgeous. I love all the bright, bold colors. Very Emma Pillsbury!

  6. Blue is my favorite color so I'm slightly bias towards Carol's outfit but of course both of you look so great!

Kathryn, I really REALLY love the belt, for some reason I think that made the whole outfit for me. Looking good ladies! :)
