My Love is Here to Stay (Anthropologie July Catalog)

It bears saying - Anthropologie's 2011 catalogs have been a disappointment to me. Don't get me wrong - the photographs and details, all lovely. The clothes though? They really didn't speak to me at all. This left me striking out from my usual shopping grounds, for greener pickings. Until now. When I opened the link to July 2011's catalog and started flipping through the pages, I felt wave after wave of delight, as outfit after outfit seemed to sing out my name.

I know they're not all going to work on me - already, I can tell you the midi skirts are going to be frump-tastic on my petite frame and the beautiful Collecting Dots Dress will probably try to swallow me up in the worst way  (blousy surplice bodice? Sadly, no...). And that Trenchcoat Skirt might not play nice with my pear-shaped figure. But I still love them! I love the colors and the prints and the silhouettes and the way they're styled. I still want to try them on and I still want them to fit me the way they fit the model. You can bet your buttons that I'll be adding way too many things to my wishlist and begin steadily stalking these items for sale, etc.

It's like I'm rediscovering an old friend.

What about you? How have you been feeling about Anthro's offerings this past year? And what do you think about July's catalog?

  1. The colors on the July catalog cover were particularly striking. Now I want a pair of kelly green AG Stevies!

I actually tried on the All Aflutter Blouse and was deeply disappointed by the fit. It looks lovely on the model, though!

  3. It's funny, I don't know that every item is a winner, but the presentation is so fabulous that I would happily attire myself in any of these glorious outfits.  That being said, I am crushing very hard on the nerdy-girl outfit with the striped boy t-shirt and the trenchcoat skirt.  yum!

I love the bright colour of the foundational skirt too!

I totally want a pair of kelly green AG Stevies too, haha! Or maybe a pair of bright tomato-red ones. And really, I totally blame this catalog for that.

I agree about the All Aflutter Blouse - also tried it on the other day, and was completely underwhelmed by the way it fit me. It's too bad, because it looks so wonderful on the model. I'm still hopeful about the Lemon Liftoff blouse though. =)

  5. I've been seeing these catalog shots a lot and I never noticed the Last Blooming Skirt.  I'm intrigued.  Also the Trenchcoat Skirt screams fall, which gets me super excited for the cooler weather.

  6. I want every color of the AG stevies! I have the sulfur black ones and have been wearing them out. I'm so excited about this catalog and what Anthro will bring out for fall. Carol - I can't wait to see you review some of these outfits - Love your reviews!

  7. I'm with you! The few things I've like haven't shown up in the catalogs this year, but I love July! I love colors and prints and shapes that echo those of the 1940s and 50s (so the green plaid shirt and pencil skirt jump off the page at me!). I hope this is a sign of things to come!

  8. ITA the catalog is gorgeous. As a petite, longer length hems make my short legs look even stubbier, but I can appreciate how beautiful the pieces are too. I am in love with the colorblocked sweater skirt and am hoping to high heavens that it works on me. Also those turquoise glossed loafers - swoon! I got the vapors since it actually comes in a size 5 (my tiny, tiny size).
