Wearing Wu (OOTD)

I suspect that this will be the first of many Jason Wu for Target-related OOTDs for me. Unfortunately, I'm nursing a cold which seems to be lingering and sapping the energy right out of me, so my writing is going to be particularly uninspired today.

That being said, I do want to mention that I didn't really care for this dress when I saw it online, but the bright colors and stripes caught my eye in the store. I know it's not particularly popular amongst the JW for Target stuff, but I kind of love it. Unbelted, it's a touch long on me - I think it needs to be a bit shorter to really work well without the belt (we'll see if we can lose some of the length on it after a wash).

Belt: J. Crew Leather Skinny Belt (similar here and here)
Necklace: Banana Republic Necklace (old; similar herehere, and here)

Okay, I've got a bad case of chills coming on (ugh, I hate being sick) so off to bed for me! Hoping the rest of you are healthy and well! Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Lovely dress. I like it with the nude heels. Glad you liked it in the end.

  2. You're right! I completely overlooked this dress for myself but it looks *fabulous* on you. It's cheery, but still sophisticated (and love it with the nude heels!).

I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling so cheery, though--I'm battling a (never-ending) cold right now too. Being sick as an adult is the worst! I mean, not that anyone out there thinks being sick is FUN, but as an adult it certainly isn't Saved By The Bell Reruns + grilled cheese sandwiches and soup made by my doting nurse-of-a-mom from when I was younger.

Boo. :( I hope you feel better soon, Carol!

  3. I hope you feel better! Nothing is worse than when you can feel a cold coming on. You are just waiting for the inevitable.

Honestly, I would have written this dress of, but seeing on and styled with the belt and nude heels, I really really like it. I bet it will shorten a bit with wash, but really, the way you have blousened over the belt looks great.

  4. Those shooooooooes! So gorgeous.
I can't tell you how envious I am that you get to flounce around in dresses and skirts at the moment. Even me, ever the skirts and bare legs girl, has been relegated to bundling up in jeans and woolly tights. Sad days.

  5. Love this dress! I was going to purchase it but the dress that I tried on had an ink stain on it, and of course it was the only one in an XS. Get better soon!

  8. I really loved this dress with a belt too. I definitely think it could work well if it were a couple inches shorter. Fingers crossed that this dress gets better and better!

  16. This dress looks gorgeous on you! What size is it? I ordered the XS online though it hasn't arrived yet...I'm wondering how it would fit. Do you think it would look ok with a black belt, too?

    1. Thanks! I'm actually wearing a size small (there were no XS left on the rack, by the time I got to it) and it's definitely a bit roomy, when unbelted. I bet the XS will fit you fine - and oh, the belt I'm wearing in the photos is actually black. =) It seems to work.

    2. Thanks, Carol! It looks amazing on you. Can't wait for mine to arrive! That's funny it's a black belt...I thought it was brown in the photo. Can't wait to see more of what you got from the Jason Wu line! (Must feel especially cool, too, since you actually met him.)

  17. Cute shoes! They make your legs look really long!! :)

  18. I don't know, I actually like the length on you. But then again I'm always super paranoid of my hemline so maybe its just me. I wasn't really interested in that dress but I love it on you. It's always nice to see an item on an actual human being. If only there were some items left at my local Target, but alas they were all swiped by some guy probably re-selling on eBay. I would have totally reconsidered this one! I hope you feel better soon!
