The Fresh Maker (OOTD)

First, I want to thank everyone - not least of all, Kathryn, for the very lovely birthday messages. You sure know how to put a smile on a gal's face.

Thanks as well for the reassuring messages about the outfit I wore here - sometimes, you just don't know and you can't put your finger on it, and even if you're not entirely sure it was a ripping success, it's nice to hear that at least you didn't make anyone's eyes bleed.*

And here's what I wore on my birthday, which was lovely and relaxing and would have been perfect, if not for the migraine that insisted on hanging around for a third consecutive day (the obnoxious thing started on Wednesday afternoon and has been extraordinarily difficult to shake off). The good news is the discomfort was mostly manageable and not debilitating, thanks to medications. The bad news is, there were a more than a couple of points in the day, when I just felt yuck, meds or no meds. However, by the time I had finished my very delicious birthday dinner at Cafe Chloe (one of my absolutely favorite places to eat), the headache seemed to have mostly dissipated and as of the time of writing, I'm feeling very nearly back to my normal, happy self again.

Which is a huge relief. Because really, migraines suck. And while I'm grateful that mine don't suck as much as this, they're pretty much the bane of my existence.

Sweater: Cotton Cable Sweater, J. Crew
Pants: Ankle Stretch Toothpick Jeans, J. Crew (similar here, here, and here)
Shoes: Blake Pumps, Sole Society (similar designer version here and under $100 here)
Necklace: Caramelo Necklace, Anthropologie
Watch: Michael Kors Clear Acrylic Chronograph (similar here and here)

Thank goodness for mint-green skinny jeans, though. I've discovered they're really fantastic for helping convince oneself that one ought to get out of bed and enjoy one's birthday and to hell with chronic neurological disorders** or other uninvited aggravations. Even the DH mentioned that he liked them. "They're a fun color," was his comment.

Well played, mint-green skinny jeans. Well played.

*Oh gosh, unless I did? And you couldn't even tell me, because you couldn't see the darn keyboard, through all the mess and gore? >_<  Eep!

**How wikipedia describes migraines. Anyone else find that definition particularly unnerving?

  2. Happy birthday, Carol. You look lovely as usual. I couldn't help but chuckle when I read Kathryn's post yesterday. The ending was mind blowing indeed!
I hope your migraine goes away completely. I don't know if it'll help you but think that on the other side of the continent another girl is suffering through a very similar pain - tooth pain. Yes, it does give me a headache too, because it's so close to the brain right?
    Have a great weekend.
