Mission: Summer Sandals

Good morning (or afternoon/evening) Ms. Reader. Your mission, should you decide to accept it: to find the perfect pair of summer sandals to wear with skirts, dresses, shorts, and rolled up jeans this summer. Should you choose to accept this mission, you will need to complete reconnaissance on sandal selection at online or brick & mortar stores of your choice. It is requested that you file a report on what you discover.

As usual, should you or any of your IPoPT Agents be ensnared or inveigled into making a purchase of such a pair of sandals, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions.

Okay, so I'm being a little silly today. But do you ever feel like while there are a million pairs of sandals for sale in every shop and store, none of them are exactly right? That's what I've been experiencing lately. At first, I thought the pair above might be worth splurging for, but when I actually tried them on, I found that while I definitely liked them, I didn't love them. I'm looking for a pair of flat or lower-heeled sandals that will go well with casual summer dresses mostly. But as I mentioned, I'm not having a lot of luck, for one reason or another.

Anyway, should you also choose to accept this mission (which I, unfortunately, already seem to have done), here are a few that have caught my eye, but haven't been properly sussed-out yet, in terms of comfort, versatility, fit, etc.

If you have any recommendations, feel free to share. And in case you were wondering, this post will not self destruct.

Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by!

  1. I just bought the Cole Haan Air Catalinas and I love them. They are really comfy and the leather is soft. I bought the pink version and love the clean lines and pop of color. I've already worn it with jeans and dresses and I love it. From my experience they run half size big.

  2. Argh! I've been finding the same thing and my qualifiers are more restrictive than yours. I've been looking to keep it under $100 and have it be fairly neutral in both design and color to be a real workhorse. (I'm a new mom so I don't want to rely on my heels and haven't any sandals to fall back on). Anyway, after much debate, I've ordered a pair of gold Corso Como Friendship sandals. Here's hoping!

PS I've loved the silly you've been bringing to the blog, lately, Carol!

  4. At the top of my wishlist is the Seychelles "Pansy" sandal. They are called the "Gerbera" sandal at Anthropologie, but also come in other colors on the Endless website. I love the color blocking and the bow!

  5. Have you tried the Boutique 9 Piraya Sandals? So many colors to choose from and I absolutely love them in the orange multi (also called the Tingo T-Straps on Anthro's site).

  6. I just bought these yellow Seychelles sandals: http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/product/23849029.jsp
They are on endless.com for $89. Comfortable, looks great with summer dresses, and the yellow is a great color that goes well with summer looks.

    1. How is the fit? They're really cute but I worried that they might be narrow, making me size up and then, being too long.

    2. I found they fit pretty much TTS, possibly slightly large. My feet are on the wider end of average (if that makes any sense!) and the width was just fine. But since they're made of leather the knotted strap will stretch out to fit your foot correctly. Hope that helps!

  10. These might be too casual for you, but I got this pair last summer and I love them. They might be the most comfortable sandals I've ever worn:

  13. Hahahahahahah, great post! I've also been looking high & low for some good summer sandals. I loooooove #7 (the vera wang floral sandals)--they remind me of these Lanvin floral sandals from last year:
