For the Love of Polka Dots (OOTD)

Just a quick OOTD to share with you today. I'm all out of compelling thoughts today. Too many grant proposals in the last few weeks has left me feeling pretty depleted.

I got lots of compliments on this outfit though, and I'm fairly certain it was entirely because of this shirt. I picked it up a few months back, but for some reason, I've only worn it about 2-3 times ever. Obviously this is something I have to rectify.

I love polka dots. Who's with me?

Shorts: Mossimo Cuffed Shorts (similar here, here, and here)
Necklace: Zoe Lariat Necklace, Stella & Dot

Zoe Lariat Necklace, Stella & Dot

The Zoe Lariat necklace has been a bit of a surprise for me. I didn't really know how I'd wear it, as it seemed too edgy and even too...sexy for my preferred style profile. But I gotta say, when I was casting about for accessories to wear with this top, this is the only one that seemed to really work well. Everything else sort of faded against the dots or made the outfit feel a little too busy. The simple line of the lariat added a little something, without making any demands, if you get what I mean. Also, the mixed metals and little crystals that run down the chain meant I didn't have to worry about whether it clashed with my belt buckle or the hardware on my shoes or handbag.

I kinda love it. I might need this one too. (Darn you, Stella & Dot! I'm on a shopping ban! Why can't your things be just "meh" and easier to resist? Sigh.)

Hoping you're all having a great Friday. Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. Last night on the JCrew documentary, Mickey Drexler said that polka dots were big and that this particular shirt was flying out the store! I have it and love it, too! I like the long sleeves with shorts. It looks so cute!

  2. Yaaaaay! I'm SO glad you love the Zoe Lariat, Carol! It's seriously one of my favorite pieces ever! Yes, all the mixed metals (silver, gold, rose gold and hematite) does make it very versatile, not to mention that you can wear it 20 different ways!

I love polka dots! I'm so glad polka dots and stripes are so "in" right now. I think they're so classic and fun. Love this outfit, cute but comfortable!
