Catching Up (OOTD)

I got to sleep in 'til 11 AM today. I'm not entirely certain how that happened. I attribute the phenomenon to the intervention of the DH. And I count it as a win, even if I did still wake up on the hour, every hour, from 8 AM, on. I could have continued to sleep past 11, if it weren't for the fact that I felt horribly guilty for still being abed at that late hour.

Don't know if I've mentioned, but I have a strong suspicion that I might have the best DH ever.

Dress: Jenny Han Silk Maxi Dress (from 2009; similar here, here, and here)
Necklace: J. Crew Bubble Necklace via eBay (other yellow necklace options here, herehere, and here)
Shoes: Lanvin Ankle Strap Sandals (similar here, here, and here)

I got all dressed up today to do load after load of laundry (I'm not just playing catch-up on sleep, but chores as well), other housework, and hang out with the kids, eating junkie snacks. I thought that'd be the extent of it (and really, I'm not complaining), until the DH came downstairs, to tell me he was taking me out to Cafe Chloe for dinner.

I think I mentioned - best ever.

Hope you're all having a great weekend too!

  2. Just bought the bubble necklace in yellow...a little nervous to wear it because it is SUCH a statement, I may click back through your blog and see how you've worn it for ideas! It looks great on you--and I think we are about the same height and it doesn't overwhelm you at all (which I was worried about). Great look!

    1. You can do it! Just a note - I like to shorten the necklace by closing it up higher than it's designed to be - otherwise, it's much longer than I'd like it to be, most of the time. I cheat and force the clasp to close on one of the smaller links in the chain, wherever I want, and tuck the excess chain into my top. That might help you as well, when styling the necklace with different things. :) Just own it, Danielle!

    2. Thanks Carol! Good tip--I had thought to maybe remove some of the chain links but was afraid I'd ruin it so this is a much better solution!

  7. Wow! You do not not want to see me doing laundry! Sometimes I'm changing out of my clothes IN the laundry room!

I love the ruffle on the bottom of the dress. The necklace is such a great accessory.

  11. So pretty! I only own printed maxis, but I'm starting to realize just how versatile a solid-colored one can be. And I like the flounce at the hem - so girly. :)
