Summer Layers (OOTD)

Hi everyone! Sorry for the silence over the last few days. I've been hard at work on yet another grant proposal and it's been a doozy. In fact, I'm not done yet.

When I said as a kid, that I wanted to grow up to be a writer, grant proposals were not what I had in mind.

Anyway, all that proposal-ing (i.e. sitting in front of the computer for far too many hours at a time) means that 1) I don't have a ton of free time, and 2) I don't bother getting dressed. Well, no, let me correct that. Of course I get dressed. But I don't get dressed. Today was the first time in a few days that I actually took the time to ditch my frumpy proposal-ing attire and made myself presentable.

Sweater: Mossimo Boyfriend Cardigan, Target (similar here, here, and here)
Top: Elizabeth and James 'Brenna' Open-Backed Camisole (from the Anniversary Sale! Same fabric, different cuts here and here, and budget friendly here and here)
Shorts: Mossimo Cuffed Shorts, Target (similar herehere, and here)
Shoes: Lanvin Ankle Strap Sandal (similar here, here, and here)
Necklace: Kate Spade 'Hang in There' Necklace (similar here, here, and here)

The fact is, it was too hot to wear this cardigan for most of today. But it helped when going from overly warm outdoor environs to the always slightly too cool air conditioned indoors.

And just in case you hadn't heard - today's the first day of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale that's open to the public! If you partake, let me know what you scored!

Hope you're all having a wonderful Friday! Thanks for stopping by!

  1. There are many days where I wear my "in house" clothes...but I find when I do get fancy...I feel so much more inspiring...but im with ya! Plus I find its hard to want to wear anything other that a T and shorts when its 100 degrees out!

  2. What kind of grant are you writing? I'm going to write my first grant proposal this Fall for the NSF fellowship. Do you do any writing on the side (besides your blog)? What kind of writing did you think you would do? :) http://katejones.me/

  3. I took the day off to partake in the Nordy sale! I went in for the Vince Camuto booties but was disappointed with the color. But I ended up with a teal color Botkier purse that is ohhh so soft. And I managed to stop by Tory Burch and picked up a gray messenger/clutch purse. I've been bad!
