Hey Look It's Me, I'm in Front of a Tree! (Anniversary Sale Purchase Turned OOTD)

Hyvää päivää!

(that's Finnish, for "Hello!" least, that's what the Internet says...)

Hi, I'm Kathryn. Nice to meet ya! I like to shop. Sometimes I even manage to blog about it.

I've been pretty swamped lately, though. Sorry I haven't been around.

Life. You know.

Anyway, I just wanted to take this quick opportunity to acknowledge that I did, in fact, hit up the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, like, I dunno, about 3+ weeks ago or whenever that first day was that presale began. I can't remember. I'm so tired I can barely remember who I am. But yeah. I went to Nordstrom. Things happened, business was taken care of, yadda yadda, and this is one of the things I happily walked away with:

In a world where I'm pulling my hair out because there aren't enough hours in the day to do all the things I need to do and I'm totally eating my feelings due to stress (potato chips and french fries are my Achilles heel), it's nice to find a dress that's like the Staples "Easy" button.

(side note: one of my co-workers actually has one of those "Easy" buttons on her desk and I totally want one. I also want it to actually make life easier.)

This dress is so easy. It's also incredibly short, but hang on - I wasn't trying to make it sound scandalous like that. It's just really easy to style. You can wear it by itself or you can drape it with accessories. You can wear it with heels or casualize (I know, that's not even a word) it with a pair of boots.

Apparently I'm so tired I feel like making up words.

I also apparently draped my "Easy" dress in so many accessories that you can barely see it.

Oh, and also? I'm in front of a tree. The composition of this pic reminds me of Marge Simpson's hairdo.

Fire Lace Minidress
(similar here, here, and MBMJ version here)
Gap denim jacket
(sooo old it should be called "vintage", today's version here)
Francesca's Rhinestone Cuff Bracelet
(similar version here and here, different version here)
Oh Hello Friend Rosette Ring
(fun version here)

On a side note, I think children born the year I purchased my Gap jacket are in 6th grade now! Yay Gap denim, you've stood the test of time. Five gold stars for you!

So, yeah. It's the last weekend of the Anniversary Sale. I think I'm going to make one last run today - I have my eye on this Hinge Faux Leather Pintuck Skirt. How fun would that be, for fall??

Do you have an "Easy" button dress? If so, please share!

And uh...if anyone sees one of these that actually works and makes life easier, please let me know!

Thanks for reading, and hope you all have a great weekend!

  1. Great post and great dress. I love those "reach for it in your closet pieces"- uh oh, now I am making up phrases too!

  2. haha- marge simpson hair indeed! but woowee that dress is hot- black looks great with denim! I love that some denim jackets are classic enough in cut to endure forever- mine was actually my mom's in the late sixties, and we've worn it in phases over the years 'til it's super faded!

I always try and keep a few black dresses on call, casual and otherwise, because they are such a brilliant staple...

  3. A good and colorful little page. The content seems somewhat disoriented and out of order. The pictures are nice as well. The writer should polish their skills somewhat
