Wilted (OOTD)

It is hot. So hot. I feel like a wilted spinach salad. Only, not as tasty. My hair is always up in a messy knot at the back of my head (even a ponytail feels too hot) and I swear there are days when I can't even bring myself to put on any accessories.

Today was one of those days. And these photos were snapped at the end of it, when I was thoroughly rumpled - so apologies for my lapsing standards. My poor skirt, it puts up with so much abuse (also known as "Kate").

I've been living in this skirt. It's so light and floaty (note how even the gentlest breeze can lift it), I can actually stand wearing it when it's "disgusting" out (as my Starbucks barrista lamented about the weather the other day). Kathryn had described a recent outfit worn by Rosa that she wanted to recreate, and while casting about in my closet for something to wear, I realized I also had similar components (gingham shirt, midi-length skirt) so decided to go with this.

Top: Gingham Shirt, Old Navy (similar here, here, and here)
Skirt: Jardin Skirt, J. Crew (similar here, here, and here)
Shoes: Phoenix Espadrilles, Jimmy Choo (similar here, here, and here)

As much as I've been whining in this post about the heat, I'm grateful I don't live an hour east of here - the forecast for Imperial Valley's overnight low: 87º F. And tomorrow, they're looking forward to 115º F.

Unbelievable, right? Hope everyone is staying cool and comfortable.

Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Lovely! I don't know what it is about a crisp gingham shirt, but they seem to work even when it's super hot out. Floaty skirts make me feel bad for the menfolk, forced to sweat it out in shorts or pants all summer long, and who especially suffer through work wear!

  3. Do you name your skirts? If you do, that's awesome! This skirt is gorgeous. It seems like the type of skirt that can be dressed up or down. Love it!
